This is a project that will engage members of Wikimedia Nigeria - Abuja Network to build skills in navigating the Wikimedia Commons platform and the value this brings to the Wikimedia movement. The Network continues to recruit new and old members.

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.

Will be shared on the Wiki Abuja Network page.

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

The event highlights will be posted on Wikimedia Abuja Network social page.

4. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event? Please provide links to the usernames of these individuals.

Participants will be instructed to come with their laptop and support devices may be mobilized too.

Metrics[edit]

Number of participants = 25

Number of new editors = 15

Number of Wikimedia Commons items created/improved = at least 100

Resources[edit]

What resources do you have? Include information on who is organizing the project, what they will do, and if you will receive support from anywhere else (in-kind donations or additional funding).

What resources do you need? For your funding request, list bullet points for each expense and include a total amount.

  1. Food for 25 participants at #2500 per unit × 25 = #62,500
  2. Venue = #60,000
  3. Branded T.shirts (for coordinators and winners) 5,000*6= #30,000
  4. Internet support = #15,000
  5. Design and Banners = #20,000

Additional Tshirts and contingency costs will be in-kind donations from the leadership of the network. Branded tshirts are important for the young members of our network to strengthen their sense of belonging and ownership of the success of the network. This is an incentive to sustain our young, new members.

Total cost = #187,500
