Project Plan[edit]

Activities[edit]

Tell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:

1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings?

I am doing one training and editathon.

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.
You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

This project has been publicised at the Nigerian User Group Talk page https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Talk:Wikimedia_User_Group_Nigeria and Igbo Wikimedia User Group Talk Page https://meta.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/Talk:Igbo_Wikimedians_User_Group#. The University of Nigeria Wiki Fan Club have been discussing this on their whatapp platform too.

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

The participants will be updated through the Fan Club Whatapp platform. Also, their phone numbers will be used to contact them.

4. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event? Please provide links to the usernames of these individuals.
For example: User:Kaizenify

User:Tochiprecious User:Oby Ezeilo User:Olugold User:Ceslause

5. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?

Already existing editors have experience on translating English Wikipedia articles to Igbo Language . The new editors will be trained by me on how to translate Wikipedia articles .

6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?

New editors will be added to our whatapp platform for future updates and participation in other Wikimedia projects

7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

This is a project that I believe will contribute to making knowledge free in Igbo Language . Having seen that this theme has not been well represented in Igbo Wikipedia, this would help to both increase quality content and number of women represented.

Impact[edit]

How will you know if the project is successful and you've met your goals? Please include the following targets:

  1. Number of events 1
  2. Number of participants 10
  3. Number of new editors
  4. Number of of articles created or improved = at least 50
  5. Number of repeat participants (for projects that include a series of events)

Metrics tracking[edit]

How do you plan to track your project metrics? A dashboard would be created in order to track the result of the editathon.

Resources[edit]

What resources do you have? Include information on who is organizing the project, what they will do, and if you will receive support from anywhere else (in-kind donations or additional funding).

There is available human resource of experienced Wikimedians as noted earlier that will render supportive advice during planning and execution of the project.
