Grants talk:IEG/Editor Behaviour Analysis/Midpoint

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Report accepted[edit]

Dear Jeph_paul,

It was wonderful to hear you talk in person about your research on editor behavior while we were both at Wikimania. It shed additional light on the findings you've reported in your Midpoint. It's clear from the graphs you've presented, as well as from our conversations, that you're arriving at meaningful insights through your analysis. As you noted in Esino Lario, there is still more to be done in terms of capturing those insights in ways that make them more communicable to others who may have difficulty interpreting the graphs you are generating. This seems like something to focus on in your conversations with Aaron Halfaker and Jonathan Morgan in terms of reaching researchers. In terms of reaching editors, let's structure our ongoing check-ins to bring more focus to communications strategies that might be effective on this front.

In the meantime, I'm accepting this midpoint report. Bravo in taking on such big questions and pioneering new ways of understanding the macro level motions of our editing community. Let's keep talking about whether this technology might have applications at smaller scales, in measuring impact of micro cohorts like those coming out of offline outreach events, for instance.

Looking forward to seeing what's next.

Best regards,
