From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Comments[edit]

  • Hi Suryasen kumar. This model of approving content for Wikipedia -- by ensuring that content experts vet it first -- is in conflict with how Wikipedia projects fundamentally work. Communities have generally agreed that these kinds of barriers aren't necessary to write good, encyclopedic content. Historically, this kind of model has also resulted in very little productivity (see en:Nupedia) However, I think there are places where experts can get more involved in supporting quality content for Wikipedia articles, but I don't think this model is likely to meet with much agreement from editing communities.
