Grants talk:PEG/WM BE/Public facing Activities 2016 S1/Report

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Hi Romaine. Thank you for this interim report. I agree that looking at your Project Metrics (with all those red x's!) is very misleading as WMBE and the team obviously changed plans throughout the year to take advantage of other opportunities and adapt activities. Your list of activities from 2016 is very impressive and I'm wondering how you accomplished it all! We're especially curious about the more general outreach activities (editathons, presentations, wikimeets, organizational meetings, photography sessions) and how effective they are in building awareness, engaging new or existing editors, impacting the projects in terms of content, and developing partnerships. There is obviously a lot of time and energy that is invested in these activities and the level of engagement may or may not be sustainable for the chapter. It would be great to hear your reflections either now or in the final report. Cheers, Alex Wang (WMF) (talk) 22:26, 20 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Alex Wang (WMF), I suspect something went wrong here, as we have a meeting tomorrow to talk about the problems of the past year. Also this interim report is not complete yet (waiting for the meeting with you tomorrow). So I expect to fill in more parts of the interim report after our meeting tomorrow.
One thing I can say about how we did it. The trick is to combine meetings as much as possible, which is possible thanks to the wish of many institutions to plan meetings weeks on forehand. Combining with events (before/after) is also possible, or by planning multiple meets after each other, to limit travel time and travel costs. Romaine (talk) 23:01, 20 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Romaine. I was wondering about that! Let me know when it's complete and I can look at the additions to the report. Cheers, Alex Wang (WMF) (talk) 23:03, 20 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Alex Wang (WMF), The report is now ready to be approved, hopefully. Thanks. Romaine (talk) 21:42, 21 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
