Not Funded[edit]

Hello @Kingaustin07 thank you for applying for the rapid fund grant. We reviewed your grant application and decided to not fund your application at this time. We encourage the team to work on strengthening the application based on the feedback provided below and apply in the next round. Please reach out to the Wikimedia Nigeria User group as well, as they would be willing to support you in strengthening the plan.

The activities are nicely detailed and appear to align with the goal of addressing the underrepresentation of women in Nigerian folklore on Wikipedia. Here are a few considerations to help the team strengthen the project plan;

Provide more clarity regarding the change you want to see and additional details regarding the specific strategies you will implement to achieve the outlined objectives. While the objectives are clear, more details are required regarding the documentation process. For instance, do you plan to award notable women for their contributions or are you seeking to celebrate women contributors to Wiki projects?

The application highlights a number of challenges, however the topics selected are broad. It is important to be clear about the focus, to ensure that your project plan is realistic with a clear plan for how you seek to address each challenge. For instance, are you seeking to contribute to overcoming gender inequality, or focused on preserving traditional folklore, or looking to rectify biases in folklore? They seem similar but would be each be ambitious goals in themselves.

It is good to see the team makeup, but specific competencies would be require to achieve the goals set out in the project plan. Specifically consider ensuring that the project team demonstrates a proficiency in Wiki-Markup. It is also crucial that the project team seeking to implement a project as this, is able to demonstrate experience. Currently, this is not evident for the project lead It would be helpful for the lead facilitator to be able to demonstrate the necessary experience in facilitating similar projects, editing Wikipedia content, or other relevant activities that demonstrate their proficiency. This will contribute to building confidence in the team's ability to successfully implement the project.
