Not Funded[edit]

Hello @Kingaustin07 we appreciate the time and efforts made in your application for a Rapid Fund Grant. We have reviewed your application and have decided to not fund your application with the following feedback and comments;

Your proposal presents a truly commendable approach to building a collaborative effort between Yoruba and Igbo editors. However, there are a few areas where better planning is needed.

  • This project currently overlaps with existing WikiGap national contests already planned by Wikimedia Nigeria. In future it would be worthwhile for the team to consider existing efforts and build a plan that aligns with ongoing plans within the communities. We still recommend that the team engages with the Wikimedia Nigeria User Group as well as the Igbo Wikimedians User group who are planning similar projects across Nigeria. They are best positioned to provide the support that you might need to effectively implement this plan.
  • While the goal to cover women's narratives in folklore is notable, it would be good for the team to consider  the challenge of sourcing reliable references, for content verification and to ensure the sustainability of the created articles. Demonstrating an understanding of this challenge would have strengthened your application.
  • Additionally, it is always important to be sure to build a the with more on-wiki editing experience or a proven track record in organising or project management.
  • Considering that this is a collaborative effort, it would have have been good to see endorsements and comments from the communities you are targeting.
  • Finally it is crucial to ensure that there is a clear commitment to adhere to the Wikimedia Youth Safety Policy. It is usually helpful that you demonstrate how your project will engage diverse groups, including the youth, while maintaining a safe and supportive environment for all participants.
