Endorsement[edit]

As a woman, I strongly support a campaign that will increase women visibility on Wikipedia projects as well as their skills and voices. Of particular importance is women rights which is a major topic of concern in our community. HurayrahZ (talk) 20:51, 29 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

support[edit]

I support this, because it's been long time that Katsina wikipedia editors have a wikipedia contest which organize through campaigns by grant such as this, and its through this that the editors like me have an extra zeal to be on editing. Nazifi IN (talk) 13:55, 31 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Endorsment from Muhammad Idriss Criteria (talk)[edit]

I am supporting this project because it will help women to know what Wikipedia is, and they will contribute to the Wikipedia.

Endorsment[edit]

This will surely be helpful especially towards bringing women editors into the picture. I am supportive.Sanusi Gado (talk) 00:11, 9 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Feedback[edit]

Hello, I want to add on the strategies of how we can access more Women quotes by notable Women or Women related quotes (especially in Hausa, across Northern Nigeria, Africa and the world at large). From my experience editing Wikiquote I came to realise that quotes are referenced from speeches in Interviews, songs, films, books, dramas, notable blogs or social media posts etc. We will therefore channel our energy towards extracting quotes from notable native Hausa books, interviews, Tv dramas, films, blogs among others. Social media (to be used during campaign)[edit]

Some of the flyers we design for the purpose of our up coming WikiLovesWomen #SheSaid Campaign on Hausa Wikiquote in Northern Nigeria.

Women Organization to work with (AGILE Project)[edit]

In the project strategy, we mention that "we will target women association to work with in the course of the event"; and we have reached out to many of the few associations we have here in Katsina. Finally, we have found a perfect organization to work with: Adolescent Girls Initiative For Learning And Empowerment (AGILE) Project, which is one of the Federal Government's effort of empowering young women with vital knowledge and skills. We will engage them in the WikiLoveWomen #SheSaid 2023 event in both our online and in-person events and train them on how to contribute to Wikiquote as well as to motivate and inspire them on becoming bold individuals and editors as well.

Funded[edit]

Hello @Uncle Bash007 thank you for applying for the rapid fund grant. We reviewed and approved the grant in the amount of 1,745,000 NGN ($2,263.55 USD) with the following comments:

  • Your project goals are clear about the aims to address the of the lack of female participation in politics, reduce gender inequalities in the Hausa community, and also to bridge the gender gap on Wikimedia projects. While your objectives are ambitious and potentially impactful, consider breaking them down into specific, achievable goals. For example, specify the number of articles you plan to create or improve during the campaign, both in English and Hausa languages. Clear, measurable objectives will help you track progress effectively.
  • The application mentions targeting women's associations. Consider providing more details about these associations. Are they local NGOs, community groups, or academic organizations? Describe the nature of your collaboration with them, and how their involvement will enhance the impact of your project.

Best of luck with your project!

Best regards, (On behalf of the Middle East and Africa regional funds team) ~~~~ YPam (WMF) (talk) 21:15, 30 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello @YPam (WMF),
Thank you for taking time to review my grant request. We shall take note of your recommendations.
  • We will therefore narrow our target in order to achieve greater success in campaign activities. We will create or improve 500 articles in Hausa, and 100 from English Wikiquote, and also promote 20 articles during our campaign.
  • The women associations we plan on engaging are AGILE (is a Federal Government empowerment program on adolescence girls) and Hausa Club, Federal College of Education, Katsina (which is an academic group consisting mainly female). We are planning on working with them during in-person and online events in sensitisation and filling gender gap on Wikipedia by registering interested participants.
Although we may still encounter changes that can add more impact to our project, which will be communicated in our report.
Thank you,
Best regards Uncle Bash007 (talk) 11:38, 31 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Request for Project deadline extention[edit]

Hello @YPam (WMF), Complement of the season to you, happy Christmass, and New year in advance. I want to request for an extension of my report deadline for this project. Request for Project deadline extention[edit]

Hi YPam (WMF), We are requesting for additional time because our participants are still learning on how to contribute via online trainings and we could not achieve the desired results yet. We need more time for them to be able to make substantial contributions to the project. We need 2 weeks more, till February 15 2023. Thank you. Best Uncle Bash007 (talk) 09:23, 27 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
