I hereby endorse this project because Niger Republic Wikimedians user group is a new user group that's in the process of development, a development through compaign and awareness to have members that will volunteer in building The user group to be recognized as an affiliate, as well as to enroll people from Niger Republic to the Wikimedia movement. The change we are trying to bring about is to involve Niger Republic people into the movement as mentioned, thereby recruiting new participants, training and grooming them to become active contributors with better experience, this is important to have volunteers contributing to open knowledge thereby saving the world from information inadequacy.as This project will be carried out through promotional campaign and awareness both online and offline, so that to make the people of Niger Republic understand to use Wikimedia actives, output/input contribution into Wikipedia, Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons and Wiktionary, engaging them will help to build their skills that will improve information in Wikimedia movement at large. In this campaign, new users will be recruit , while the minimal number of existing users will be taken along to help in volunteering. Additionally, articles that are less improved will be developed through this project and new articles will be created as part of this project

Not funded[edit]

Hello Bajoga2021, thank you for submitting your grant application. We appreciate your interest in contributing to the mission of the Wikimedia Movement. We are continuously strengthening our grants review process, ensuring that grant funding is being invested towards impactful projects and efforts geared towards contributing to the mission of Wikimedia Movement in the most efficient and effective manner.

After a thorough review of your application, we have decided to not fund your Rapid Fund request. Here are the main reasons for our decision:

  • Lack of capacity: The applicant or the team did not show sufficient capacity and experience on and off Wikimedia projects to run the project. We recommend gaining more experience on Wikimedia projects as a contributor and trainer of proposed projects.
  • Not located in the same region: The applicant and team are not located in the country where activities are planned to take place. Given the capacity of the team and details of activities, we think that there are considerable concerns regarding the sustainability of the project. It is unclear for instance, how the applicant plans on following up and supporting participants of the proposed project beyond initial contact.
  • Niger Republic Wikimedians User Group is not a recognized Wikimedia affiliate. However, on your Meta-Wiki page, social media, and/or Fluxx Grantee Portal you are presenting yourself as a recognized affiliate and this is misrepresentation that also goes against the trademark policy. We request that the group designation is updated and corrected on the relevant Meta-Wiki pages, Fluxx Grantee Portal, and other public-facing pages or materials. You cannot use Wikimedia logos or marks to reference your own organization/group, you cannot refer to yourself as a "User Group" or "Wikimedia [country name]" if this hasn't been explicitly approved by the Affiliation Committee. You can reach out to the Affiliation Committee if further guidance is needed regarding the recognition and existence of Wikimedia movement affiliates.
