Funded[edit]

Hello chukydyk, thank you for applying for the rapid fund grant. We reviewed and approved the grant in the amount of 1,472,500 NGN (1,949.51 USD) with the following comment;

  • While the project involves a series of training sessions, edit-a-thons, and events, consider having a plan for engaging participants beyond the initial stages. It would be important to think about how you intend to maintain interest and involvement not only during the campaign, but also beyond. This could involve creating a structured follow-up plan, such as regular virtual meetups, check-ins, or other adhoc sessions to support participants as they continue contributing to Wikimedia projects. Potentially this could help the team carve a niche.
  • Additionally, as this project aims to create awareness and bridge content gaps related to SDG Goal 13 in Nigeria, consider expanding your metrics beyond the quantity of content created or improved. Include qualitative indicators that showcase the quality, relevance, and influence of the content produced. Do think about ways to capture and report on the broader influence of your campaign, such as the number of readers accessing the content, media coverage, or engagement from stakeholders even beyond the Wikimedia community.

We look forward to reading your final report on what you have learned through this project, especially if the recommendations provided above are adopted.

Best regards, (On behalf of the Middle East and Africa regional funds team) ~~~~ YPam (WMF) (talk) 18:15, 30 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

I see you plan to make new users edit Wikipedia. Have you considered making them start with some assisted editing? For example OAbot is a tool to quickly edit references. It's educational on multiple fronts (templates, reliable sources, systemic bias, copyright) and can make the participants feel some sense of accomplishment quite quickly.
