Not Funded[edit]

Hello @Chukydyk thank you for applying for the rapid fund grant. We have reviewed your application and have decided to not fund it currently, with the following comments and feedback;

Your proposal has some commendable aspects, particularly in addressing plagiarism among new Wikipedia editors. Educating them on this topic is important and could greatly benefit the community. However, there are several areas where the proposal did not demonstrate a clear strategy for doing this important work effectively.

  • While the application highlights plagiarism, the proposal also includes activities like a photowalk on green energy and Wikidata training, which are unrelated to the main focus of combating plagiarism. The project focus and goals are therefore unclear.
  • We recommend that the team begin this work through a micro grant that is more easily accessible in Nigeria through the Wikimedia Nigeria User group micro-grants program. Consider a targeted focus with a smaller budget and project scale as this could make your initiative more feasible and targeted.
  • The current editing experience of the project lead, on English Wikipedia is not sufficient. Considering that this project centers on a complex issue like plagiarism, a more substantial background in editing and content creation is essential.
