6. What is the change you are trying to bring? What are the main challenges or problems you are trying to solve? Describe this change or challenges, as well as main approaches to achieve it. (required)

At the wake of Plagiarism issues going on around the world there is a strong need to create awareness, training and educate Wikipedia existing and new editors on the stand of Wikimedia on the issue of Plagiarism and how to navigate plagiarism while contributing, creating or editing Wikipedia articles and sister’s projects.

We plan to organize a physical and online event with edit-a-thon to launch the event. Online training to spread the awareness and reach more people who will not be able to meet up with the physical events. We will have another physical event to close the event where we will develop activities to engage editors. The activities will create awareness on Plagiarism on the content Nigeria editors are creating and we will recognize and award prizes to top contributors in the Edit-a-thon.

Alternatively, you can upload a timeline document. When the activities include partnerships, include details about your partners and planned partnerships.

March 16th -22nd: The registration will be through a Google form. After which they will be added to the WikiActivate Telegram group. We will also run one posts and design and print flyers . The flyer will announce the meetings and the programme that will be held to introduce participants to Wikipedia. It will also have a short concept note of why the meeting is being held March 23rd-29th Learn more about Plagiarism and its impacts on Wikipedia content, and organize contest edit-a-thon for the participants during the campaign. This invitation will provide them the date, time and venue of meet ups via emails, calls and SMS. The trainer will train on Wikipedia generally and then concentrate and introduce the goals of the programme which is on Plagiarism and making credible edits. After the training, there will be an edit-a-thon on English Wikipedia which will concentrate on editing existing contents that are align to the SDGs and creating new ones. This edit a thon will also be a competition for participants which will last throughout the programme. We will continue to encourage each other in the Telegram group. We will provide data for participants in the competition.

Mar 30th-6th April : 2nd Round of Training and Edithathon

April 7th – 14th: PhotoWalk and Wiki Commons we will go for a Photo walk and take some pictures that has to do with Climate and Green Energy etc, also there will be a training on how to upload and use images on Wiki Commons

April 14th - 21th : The 3rd two days meet up of training and editing will be on Wikidata. At the end, a short questionnaire will be administered to get their opinion. They will also be urged to continue contributing in all the projects.

April 27th: They Judges decision, result announcement and prices given to the 1st, 2nd, 3rd best participants.

User: Chukydyk - will conduct the training on English Wikipedia. He will also lead other Wikipedians who will support the participants in their first edit in English Wikipedia. He is a volunteer Project lead for Wiki-activate, Wiki-Interact and Wiki-Santa where he trained new editors and existing ones on writing and editing Wikipedia articles, Wiki-commons etc. He also coordinated Wiki-lockdown during the pandemic. He participated in wikindaba 2019 as an ad-hoc committee member.

User: Mercyjamb123: She is a dedicate Wikipadian who have knowledge of the Foundation and the Wikimedia Movement. She contributes on Igbowikipadia, Wikiquote and Wiki Commons

User: Inor4mr is a Librarian and an active Wikipadian Contributor. She has background in Business Administration, experience in entrepreneurship and project management. She is experienced in Wikiquote and Wikipedia.

User: Oby Ezeilo - will conduct the training on wiki commons. She will also lead other Wikipedians that will support participants in their first edit in wiki commons. she is a test Wiki Administrator of Igbo Wiktionary. She participated in Wikindaba 2019. She is a graduate of Wikipedia Education Project Management Course conducted by the Education Greenhouse programme. She is also certified by WMF as a trainer of the Reading Wikipedia in the Classroom. She had conducted several trainings and recruited so many editors into the Wiki Family. She has volunteered to conduct this training.

User: Udeb - will conduct the training on Wikidata. He will also lead other Wikipedians who will support the participants in carrying out their first edit in Wikidata. Benedict Nnaemeka Udeh, is a Metallurgical and Materials Engineer. He is a programmer. He is extremely passionate about community growth, technology trends and data driven world. He is currently the Wikidata Hub coordinator for the Igbo Wikimedians User_Group in Nigeria. She has volunteered to do this training.

Target participants are Nigeria Wikimedia editor both Old and New, also Editor who are not base in Nigeria can join through the online training. We will reach them via Community groups, social media, WhatsApp groups and Africa email list as well. In retaining new participants, We will add them in Wikiactivate community Whatsapp and Telegram group
