Strong support Strong support Nigerian teachers and educators being the first point of knowledge transmission for their students, need to be equipped with adequate and proper information to reorient their wrong mindset towards Wikipedia as a free knowledge repository; hence the essence and importance of this project.

Not funded[edit]

Hello Ugwulebo, thank you for submitting your grant application. We appreciate your interest in contributing to the mission of the Wikimedia Movement.

After reviewing your application, we have decided to not fund your Rapid Fund request. Here are the main reasons for our decision:

  • Project impact and capacity. The project impact is not aligned with the capacity described in the project. The applicant aims at training 150 participants from three universities. However, we have concerns regarding the sustainability and viability of the project. Additionally, the main applicant does not have recent Wikimedia contributions on the target Wikimedia project.
  • Lack of coordination. Although the applicant notified the local User Group on their discussion page on Meta-Wiki, there have been no attempts to partner with the User Group. We recommend that the applicant and team partners with the Wikimedia Nigeria User Group and their established networks when implementing such large scale projects. We also recommend applying for local micro-funding opportunities for projects with a reduced scope.
  • The applicant and some of their team members (User:Omorodion1 and User:Nosakhare_Okuons) periodically apply for individual funding through the Rapid Funds program for similar projects. However, it seems that they organize activities with the same core team acting like an established group in these projects. We highly recommend applying as a group for any future grant requests, so that group eligibility criteria apply to the team.
