Not Funded[edit]

Hello EKokou, thank you for applying for the rapid fund grant. We reviewed and have decided to not fund this application currently and recommend the team spends some time building a strong project plan. Support will be provided for this. The feedback provided below is intended to help guide the project team towards ensuring a more refined and thoughtful approach to the work.

  • Given the current political climate in Burkina Faso, has the team considered safety concerns. Specifically, would using billboards potentially expose the community to risks, as they might be misconstrued as promoting Western agendas. In a case like that we recommend exploring alternative communication methods that align better with the local context and culture to avoid potential misunderstandings and to ensure community safety.
  • It is an interesting approach to involve public influencers, but would require more clear roles for them within the project plan, beyond participating in training. To maximise their impact, consider utilising them as campaign ambassadors to extend the reach and impact.
  • While it is ambitious to consider creating a platform for photo collections, do keep in mind that uploading images to Wikimedia Commons requires proper authorisation from the creators. To address this, consider collaborating directly with photographers or artists who can contribute their work with the necessary permissions or facilitate the OTRS release process.

Thank you for your dedication to advancing Wikimedia initiatives, and we look forward to seeing the progress and positive impact of your revised proposal.
