[ Not Funded] Wiki Loves Folklore 2023 Uganda[edit]

Dear Drake,

Thank you for submitting your grant application. We appreciate your interest in contributing to the mission of the Wikimedia Movement. We are continuously strengthening our grants review process, ensuring that grant funding is being invested towards impactful projects and efforts geared towards contributing to the mission of the Wikimedia Movement most efficiently and effectively.

After thoroughly reviewing your application, we have decided not to fund your Rapid Fund request. The reasons for declining your funding application are as follows;

  • Overall, we find it challenging to understand the project's feasibility and especially the strategies being proposed to achieve the intended goal. Folklore is broad, and it would be helpful to understand whether there is a particular focus you are working with that would also support you in measuring the progress being made.
  • We found a misalignment between the components of folklore documentation, organizing and the edit-a-thon.
  • We also needed clarification on the outputs you indicated; for instance, there would be at least one 1edit in the event period, and you aim for four editors out of the 30 participants. More review of the learning and evaluation section is needed.
  • We'd like to encourage you to begin more thoughtful planning of your future project, ensuring that the project is impactful and considering all aspects of project success.
  • Lastly, we encourage you to contact your user group to help you implement a revised proposal considering the feedback.

Thank you.

Best regards,
