Partially Funded[edit]

Hello @Rosine Igirimpuhwe thank you for applying for the rapid fund grant. We reviewed and approved the grant in the amount of 3,720,257 RWF ($3,000 USD) with the following comments:

  • As the project lead, @Rosine Igirimpuhwe needs to immediately create a user page for the account associated with this grant.
  • We recommend that the team reviews the budget line items related to community outreach, phone calls, certificates, prizes, and judges gifts.
  • Consider providing more details regarding the the involvement of partner organizations. This is mentioned, but the nature of collaboration and specific roles of partners are not clear. It would be beneficial to elaborate on how these partnerships will be leveraged and what each partner brings to the project.
  • Consider including a brief a risk assessment in your plan. Considering the communities you are looking to engage with on this project, it will be good to have and outline of the potential challenges such as participant dropouts, technical issues, or community resistance. For each identified risk, provide mitigation strategies to demonstrate your proactive approach to handling challenges.
  • Finally, how will you gather feedback from participants? How will you measure the effectiveness of your training sessions and community engagement efforts?Wishing you success on this project outing.

We wish you the best on your project outing.

Best regards, (On behalf of the Middle East and Africa regional funds team) ~~~~ YPam (WMF) (talk) 15:38, 26 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Dear @YPam (WMF),
I hope you are doing well, I am writing to provide you the requested information.
  • As part of our partnership, we have the goal of educating the members from those different organizations that we are partnering with, where we will train them to use Wikimedia platforms and teach them how to actively contribute to projects like Wikiquote and other Wikimedia projects in proper ways. By providing these volunteers with the knowledge and tools to participate in Wikimedia projects, we aim to amplify the women’s voices, promote knowledge sharing, and create a more inclusive and diverse representation on Wikimedia projects and also to retain them as active contributors through the training we will give them. This collaboration not only enhances their digital literacy but also fosters a sense of global citizenship and the power to make a positive impact through knowledge dissemination. Together, we strive to empower the participants from those partnering organizations to become effective contributors to the Wikimedia community and, in turn, inspire positive change in their communities and beyond.
  • As we look forward to working with different organizations, we know that there might be some risks, and we will be proactive in managing them. Some of the potential risks are listed below:
    • We may face some technical issues like lack of skills in using wiki markup language as it is mostly used on Wikiquote, and as a mitigation strategy we will look forward to training the participants how to activate visual editor through beta features and this will also help them to concentrate on contributing deeply rather than spending time trying to remember a proper syntax.
    • It is also possible that we can face a risk of content's quality and accuracy and our mitigation strategy relies on providing a productive training that will emphasize on ways to contribute by following the guidelines as provided by Wikiquote, and also we look forward to do the online follow-up sessions once every week where we will be providing a recall of the training and also to handle any challenge that they may face.
  • During the training session we aim for the continuous improvement so that the community engagement efforts is essential, to achieve this we will implement the following measures:
    • Feedback sessions is our main approach as we look forward to have an open and interactive training this will lead to participants sharing their thoughts, ask different questions, and provide input on the training content.
    • The quality and engagement metrics is also the essential measure that will be implied, whereby we will be mostly checking the number of active contributors, edits, and the contents that are created on Wikiquote, to assess the overall impact on their communities by using the Outreach Dashboard.
Best regards,

Hello @Rosine Igirimpuhwe, It is good to see the user page has been set up.
Thank you also for the updates and responses to the questions and considerations raised in the feedback provided. It appears the organisations mentioned are not partners but rather your target audience for this project. Would that be correct?
Great that you have identified content quality as a risk and the continuous engagements that you have planned seem like a good way to go, at least for now. Please remember to document what you learn through this implementation (what works and what does not work). These are important not only for any future plans you may have, but also for others within your region.
All the best! YPam (WMF) (talk) 15:51, 7 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
