Rapid Fund Request Approved[edit]

Thank you for applying to the rapid fund program. We have approved funding in the amount of 8,158,508 TZS. Please see the comments below linked to the funding decision;

  • Please get in touch with all other communities in Tanzania; they are in a position to provide substantial and meaningful support for the campaign and will contribute to proactivity in the ongoing in-country coordination efforts. We would like to learn more about this process, experience and outcome in the report.
  • It is important to anchor the activities to the main goal; that way, you see the project beyond just a photography workshop. There is more to the campaign than the photography component- it is important that you spend sufficient time supporting the participants in understanding the Wikimedia projects the activity is directly contributing to and possible intersections. All to say, avoid reducing the campaign to just photography.
  • With that, there is a need to think about how you bring people in - how you introduce them to the Wikimedia projects - the in-between of how you develop their skills for meaningful participation - the afterwards of how you support their continued interest in contributing to the projects.
  • In your report, we hope to see and learn what you measured to help you respond to the learning questions. Please ensure you have useful metrics and that you have captured the learnings and shared them with your community. Please include this in the report.
  • The metrics indicated are low in relation to the requested resources.

Lastly, please ensure that there are quality outputs of the photography component and that there is a clear tracking of the contributions made towards Wikipedia - as you have indicated in your proposal. VThamaini (WMF) (talk) 09:39, 18 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
