Sustainability of the project[edit]

Strong support Strong supportAs a volunteer and a student of Federal Polythecnic Kaltungo who currently joined Wikimedia projects, I am looking forward to understanding how to contribute to Wikimedia projects especially from a program that is slated to hold in my institution. Also, I will be willing to work with the organizers to ensure the sustainability of the wiki club that the project will establish in my institution. Aishat58 (talk) 11:16, 24 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

--I feel that outreach in schools is a very effective way to increase awareness of Wikipedia both among students and among their families and friends. The more people know about Wikipedia, the more new editors we will get in the long run

Awarenesses and Sustainability[edit]

I am in Strong support Strong support of the project because of its massive awareness in Federal Polytechnic Kaltungo. It will expose thousands of students and hundreds of staff to Wikimedia community. I am also fascinated about its sustainability as it will not only train and leave the newly editors but will also subsumed them into a wiki club which will further guide generational students and staff. I will be willing to be a volunteer for both the online and the offline program. You can contact me via my talk page. DANNURA (talk) 17:15, 24 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Support[edit]

Having worked with you on different successful projects, I do not doubt your ability and transparency in delivering wikimedia foundation projects. Targeting an institutional community where you are already a staff will provide all the comforts and familiarities to carry out and sustain the project without any problems. Also, I am happy to join as a facilitator and I will be willing to provide all necessary supports in the sustainability of the project. —Gwanki✉️ 20:31, 24 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Strong support[edit]

Few months ago, I stumbled upon the organisers' video on YouTube on how to open account and do minor edits during the Wikimedia Awareness in Federal University of Kashere. In which I followed and open an account. I am very excited that I will be able to learn more now that the program is coming down to my institution. I will also assist in ensuring the Sustainability of the Wiki club.AbuEsphana (talk) 09:53, 26 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Support[edit]

I have worked with the project lead on two succesful projects, Wikipedia Awareness in Akko and Kashere respectively, and I can attest to his capacity in effective delivery of the project. Also, this project is very important because it is targeting an institutional community where Wikimedia projects are absent and its acceptance will create awareness for thousands of staff and students in the institution. The project lead is also insightful about sustaining the project with a fan club that will ensure that the outcome of the project can withstand the test of time. Feedback from MEA regional funds review team[edit]

Hi Ibjaja055, thank you for submitting your grant application. After reviewing your grant proposal, we have some questions to learn more about the project and planned activities.

  • Are all facilitators leaving close to the location of activities? (question 3)
  • Why do you request accommodation expenses for facilitators? Please provide a detailed breakdown for "Travel and accommodation" expenses. (detailed budget)
  • Do you plan to organize all these activities at the premises of the institution? If yes, did you discuss this with the institution management? Which resources will be provided by the institution? (question 3)
  • Please explain the need for creating additional merchandise for this project. Do you have any merchandise from your past projects that you can re-use for this project? (question 2 or 3)
  • Please provide detailed definitions for the core metrics. How do you define participants, editors, and organizers? Add them to the metrics section in your grant proposal (question 17).
  • Which resources will you use to train participants? Please add all relevant links and information to your response to question 2. If you don't have any training resources, please explain why.
  • Will you be in touch with Hausa Wikimedians User Group when implementing this project? How do you coordinate these activities with them? (question 11)

Please make indicated changes on Wikimedia Foundation Grantee portal (Fluxx). Log in to the Grantee Portal and you will see your application in the 'Proposals need attention' section. Edit and re-submit your application by February 26, 2023.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon. Thanks for your time, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 10:49, 22 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thank you very much for your observations and recommendations DSaroyan (WMF) . Kindly find below my answers to the issues raised above.

  • Are all facilitators leaving close to the location of activities? (question 3): Yes, all the facilitators are living in the closest location. We are all in the North Eastern Nigeria.
  • Why do you request accommodation expenses for facilitators? Please provide a detailed breakdown for "Travel and accommodation" expenses. (detailed budget): Mussadam Idris and Gwanki are three hours to the location and Usmanagm is two hours to Kaltungo. From the above, it will be a little bit inconvenient for them to attend the two days programs without accomodation. These facilitators are the closest experienced and dedicated facilitators that will be able to assist in the successful delivery of the project. Apart from that, there are other volunteers that we recruited in the last Project who will also assist in the program and I believe that after this project, these volunteers would have amassed enough experience to assist the project lead in futuristic project which will definitely solved the issue getting accomodation and transport allowance for facilitators.

    • In the budget, ₦65, 000 is budgeted for their accommodation, transport and feeding for three days. Here are the breakdowns of the money
  1. The To and fro Transport fare is estimated as ₦5, 000 for each facilitator
  2. Three days accomodation: They will arrive a day to the event and take their leave a day after the program. ₦11, 000 for each day (₦11, 000 x3= 33, 000)
  3. Three days feeding: The facilitators will be provided with three times square meals for three days at the rate of 3000 per meal (₦3000 x 3= 3 ₦9, 000) for three days (₦9, 000 X 3=₦27, 000)

Therefore for each facilitator:

    • Transport: ₦5, 000
    • Accomodation for three days: ₦33, 000
    • Feeding for three days: 27, 000
    • Grand total: 65, 000
  • Do you plan to organize all these activities at the premises of the institution? If yes, did you discuss this with the institution management? Which resources will be provided by the institution? (question 3): Yes, as stated in the proposal under question 13. 1. We plan to organise all the activities on campus. We are in touch with the institution Chief Librarian and the institution library will support us with venue for the two days programs. This is why the cost of venue is not included in the budget. Also, we are collaborating with the students union and they offer to assist with social media awareness using the official students union platforms for pre, during and post project activities. This is why social media promotion is not included in the budget. Lastly, we are collaborating with the school administrators and they will give us the school permit to be able to carry out awareness trip on the first day on campus.
  • Please explain the need for creating additional merchandise for this project. Do you have any merchandise from your past projects that you can re-use for this project? (question 2 or 3): Yes, there is a roll up engine and a medium sound system that were purchased in last project and it will assist in erecting the roll up banner and easy communication during the events. However, Most of other things that are available from the last project are customised with the name of the project (e.g. flyers, roll up banner and stage banner, T. Shirt etc) which will make it difficult for re use and these are what the merchandise will cover.

  • Please provide detailed definitions for the core metrics. How do you define participants, editors, and organizers? Add them to the metrics section in your grant proposal (question 17): I have provided the information as advised in the grant proposal

  • Which resources will you use to train participants? Please add all relevant links and information to your response to question 2. If you don't have any training resources, please explain why: This is the link to the resource I am going to use during the training.

  • Will you be in touch with Hausa Wikimedians User Group when implementing this project? How do you coordinate these activities with them? (question 11): I am part of the Hausa Wikimedia User Group and I have informed them prior to the submission of the project via the WhatsApp group. Gwanki and Usmanagm are also part of the group too. We will keep them updated on the activities of the project and we are always ready for their suggestions and recommendations toward the success of the project.

Thank you once again and I am looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Extension[edit]

Hello DSaroyan (WMF), We are supposed to start the Federal Polytechnic Kaltungo on the 25th of March 2023 however, there has been a change in the plan due to the adjustment of the school calender by the school management. The 25th falls in between their three weeks continuous assessment and immediately followed by the Ramadan festival break. The school management has reached out to us pleading that we should hold the programme till the end of the Ramadan break for it to be very effective.

Though, we are using this time to focus on the issue of merchandise and other logistics, am also seeking a month extension that will start on May 8th 2023 - June 8th 2023.

Thank you very much and I am looking forward to your response. Ibjaja055 (talk) 11:43, 25 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
