Feedback from Middle East and Africa Regional Funds Team[edit]

Hi A Sulaiman Z, thank you for submitting your grant application. After reviewing your grant proposal, we have some questions to learn more about the project and planned activities.

  • How are you related to the Federal College of Education (Technical) in Bichi? Are you in touch with the college?
  • Are you located in the same area as this educational institution?
  • What are your strategies of retaining some of the participants from the campaign?
  • Could you please provide more details on why you do not want to collaborate with Hausa Wikimedians User Group to implement this project?

Please respond to these questions on this page. Thanks for your time, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 16:35, 26 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @DSaroyan (WMF), thank you for reviewing my rapid fund grant proposal and requesting for some additional information from me. The following are the answers of your questions:
  • Yes, I have a good relation with some of the the college's Students Union Government (S.U.G) because most of them are my colleagues we were attended a boarding school (Government Secondary School Bichi) together which is an opposite of the college. Secondly, I have a good contact with college's staff because we were met with some of them during the program of Wiki for Human Right and they are asking when this project will be organized in their college.
  • Yes, I am nearest to the college because I am in Bagwai local government and the college is in Bichi local government, the two local governments are neighboring local governments, their zone are the same their senatorial also are the same.
  • The strategies that will be used to retain some participants is to create a WhatsApp group for the responding to the questions of participants and guidance on how to be an experienced and expert.
  • The reason why that I didn't collaborate Hausa Wikimedians User Group to implement this project is, still now there is no leadership under Hausa Wikimedians User Group and than the activities are just going round between Kaduna and Katsina also I have no good contact with them that is why I informed the Gwanki about this project because he is only one that I have a good contact with him and he is in Kano State location.
Best regard, A Sulaiman Z (talk) 21:50, 26 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hello A Sulaiman Z, thanks for your response. What do you mean by saying "there is no leadership under Hausa Wikimedians User Group"? Also, could you explain what you meant by "I have no good contact with them"; did you try to reach them out through the official email? Thanks, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 08:23, 27 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @DSaroyan (WMF) thanks for your reply.
What I understand about the User Group is that so far they are preparing the administration, currently the User Group's co-founders are managing the user group in Kaduna and Katsina States. I only knows the group co-founders virtually because I've never been to any of User Group's physical event but virtually. By now I've reached out to Em-mustapha and noticed him about the project and he says he will give me all support that I needed from him. As I said in the proposal I have the support of Gwanki whose I've participated in all the projects that he has organised in Kano, he will also help to organise the project. Thanks for your time A Sulaiman Z (talk) 18:29, 27 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Comments by Em-mustapha[edit]

Hi DSaroyan (WMF), I'm sorry for interrupting your discussions but I just wanted to be transparent about some of the answers given above by this applicant A Sulaiman Z. He said "I have no good contact with them" and "the activities are just going round between Kaduna and Katsina"; Actually, I too did not understand these statements and if he thinks he has been mistaken, he can explain what he means and clarify us. He also said, he notified me and I told him this, "he will give me all support that I needed from him"; please when and where did I say that to you? I saw this immediately after he made mentioned of me through my notifications but he didn't reach out before and during this discussion. He truly know, I can give him all the support he may be needing but he did not ask me before saying all that he said here.

And, I want to ask you 'User:A Sulaiman Z', were you not among the persons we just give reimbursement for the Wikimania 2022 participation scholarship? How did you get to know about the scholarship if we were not there for you and you apply? Were you not in the Hausa Wikimedians User Group social discussion groups? Why didn't you ask the Gwanki that you are with on anything about the User Group if you truly wanted to? Please, give honest answers to the questions you have been asked. This grants is all about trust and you are here seeking for it but sadly, your approach seems to display incapability!

Note; If not of the above explanation I wouldn't have come here to comment on your proposal that I too looked at to be reasonable but as I told you through WhatsApp chat, I just have to come here and make this clarification because it's here that you said what you've said! Thank you. Em-mustapha talk 02:43, 30 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Not funded[edit]

Hello Em-mustapha, thanks for sharing your thoughts. Some of the points you mentioned are concerning for me. Based on these concerns, I'm rolling back the decision for this grant request.

Dear A Sulaiman Z, you are required to notify people engaged in your project and be transparent with the program officer. This grant has been marked as 'not funed'. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 07:55, 30 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
