Not funded[edit]

Hello Isaacayodele32,

Thank you for submitting your grant application. We appreciate your interest in contributing to the mission of the Wikimedia Movement. We are continuously strengthening our grants review process, ensuring that grant funding is being invested towards impactful projects and efforts geared towards contributing to the mission of Wikimedia Movement in the most efficient and effective manner.

After a thorough review of your application, we have decided to not fund your Rapid Fund request. Here is the main reasons for our decision:

  • Proposed team members and facilitators aren't notified about this project.

Hello DSaroyan (WMF)
Thank you for reviewing my application,
All the team members and facilitators for this project were informed. Tochiprecious was reached out to via telegram message and Oby Ezeilo was also reached out to via WhatsApp message by one of our team members . Favourdare123 and Ebubechukwu1 were also informed prior to the time that the proposal application was done.
And also the mail I received was not about my project application, it was for another application.
I will share screenshot of the messages via your mail.
Hope you hear from you soon.

Hello Isaacayodele32, thanks for your response. Apologies for confusing the title of your grant. Pinging someone on Telegram is not enough to consider them as facilitators. You need to contact team members, have their confirmation, work with them on your project idea, and collaborate on the project together. I'm pinging Tochiprecious here to confirm that she hasn't agreed to be a facilitator. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 15:29, 8 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hello DSaroyan (WMF)
Thank you for your response. I have also told my team member who was in touch with her to confirm her approval to be a facilitator in the project as she is based in Abuja,so we were informed to have her as our facilitator, to help in dispensing adequate experience to our participants during the project, in which she confirmed that she might not be available to attend the physical training but will be able to help for the online training according to the response she shared with our communication team.

I am just informed now that she didn't know it's was about this project as we reached out to her September, so she said she will reach out to you, on this regards.

I do hope we find a way of resolving this issue, so as not to affect the project as awearness programs and e flyers has been sent and also the youth Corp executive mail has also been drafted.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Warm regards Isaacayodele32 (talk) 16:14, 8 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hello @DSaroyan (WMF) thank you for the ping. Apparently, it wasn't the applicant himself (@Isaacayodele32) who reached out to me about the project but someone else by name Pascal hence my not knowing who it is. Also, he reached out in September and since I didn't hear from him again I felt it's been approved and getting the email yesterday with someone else's name instead of the one who reached out to me prompted the response as well.
Thank you Tochiprecious (talk) 18:13, 8 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Tochiprecious
Thank you for explaining the situation, Yes I wasn't the one who reached out to you concerning my project proposal as it was assigned to Pascal. I had no idea he didn't properly inform you that he was reaching out on behalf of the team and the applicant(me), as he incharge of communication for the project. We are really sorry for the inconvenience caused, during the course of review the application. And we will make sure such mistakes don't reoccur in our subsequent applications.
I hope to get positive feedback from the reviewer as we have resolved the issue regarding the facilitators. And we hope to achieve the aim of this project. Thank you for understanding.

Hello Isaacayodele32 and Tochiprecious, thanks for your responses and sorry for the huge confusion. I will roll back the decision and move this forward from the initial review stage. We will do the detailed review of the project and get back to you later this week or early next week. Thanks and apologies again. All the best, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 15:52, 9 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Funded[edit]

Hello Isaacayodele32, thanks for applying for this grant request. We reviewed and approved the grant in the amount of $1,538.00 USD (678,209 NGN). We recommend a reduced scope for the project (30 participants maximum per event) and a reduced budget.

  • We think that costs for Data subscription and local transportation for team members are high and we request to reduce these costs.
  • Food for participants in the training should be reduced given the recommended scope.
  • Other expenses should be adjusted and reduced according to the approved budget. Please update the detailed budget accordingly.

Please note that starting from this Rapid Fund round, all grant payments will be made in your local currency.

Request for Additional funds[edit]

Hello Davit,DSaroyan (WMF)

Thank you for the positive response as regards our request for additional funds to the earlier recommended funds for the project.

We requested for extra funds due to our budget and our outlined goals for the project which we think the recommended funds will not be enough to cover the expenses during the project. This also is due to the fact that, the period of the project is a festive one, and records hike and spike in prices of things, transport etc.

We requested for additional $450 to the $1538 that was recommended by you. Below are the things the requested extra funds will duly cover.

1. Internet Support for Participants : 33,088 + 70,400 ($160) Due to the various internet connectivity brands in Nigeria and difference in amount for internet subscription. Participants will need adequate data support to effectively participate during the duration of the Editathon. Providing data support for them to edit and contribute to the goal of this project. We believe that the amount initially on the budget will not be enough.

2. Food and refreshments: 132,000 + 59,400 ($135): There has been increase in the prices of food and refreshments that reviews to us that the earlier budget for food will not be enough for 30 participants and the team members during the training and the Editathon. And the Cost of Living and expenses in Abuja being the federal capital territory is higher than other states.

3.Souvenirs (jotter, pen, stickers, etc) for participants to enjoy active participation - 68,200 ($155): we hope to provide this souvenirs for participants so that they can use that as a means of creating awareness among others who haven't heard of Wikipedia and also didn't attend the event and also to appreciate the participants for attending the event and participated in the project and also encouraging them to attend future projects.

Here is the link to the budget

The above-mentioned are very important that is why we request for extra funds for them so we can achieve the project goals.

I hope to get a positive reply from you soon as regards this. As we have fixed a date for the project activities before the end of the year.

Best regards, Isaac. Isaacayodele32 (talk) 14:47, 30 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
