Have you heard of "Wikipedia Store"?[edit]

Hello, I read your budget sheet. It could be the "uniform" is determined already. Even it's already fixed, it would be nice if you consider the official WMF t-shirts or others in the next occasion. YShibata (talk) 07:34, 15 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello, thank you for your suggestion. The official T-shirt is also cool!
However, the library exhibition we are exhibiting this time is a venue where dozens of projects gather, and with an estimated 10,000 visitors, we need to stand out if we are to be able to identify ourselves. The official T-shirt is also good, but this time I'm going to make a T-shirt that's a little more flashy and stands out even from a distance.-漱石の猫 (talk) 漱石の猫 (talk) 08:45, 15 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Funded and feedback from the ESEAP regional funds review team[edit]

Hi 漱石の猫, thank you for submitting this Rapid Fund request. I'm sorry for reaching out to you in English.

We are glad to inform you that we made a decision to fund this Rapid Fund proposal in the amount of 704,550 JPY (4,976.00 USD).

  • We think that the submitted proposal is viable and important for the Japanese Wikimedia community and broader Wikimedia Movement. We appreciate your efforts put into developing this project.
  • We like your approach of building new activities on your learnings and achievements from your past projects. Thanks for sharing clear activity / learning plans and thanks for your contributions to the Wikimedia Movement!

Questions and requests:

  • For any future projects, instead of making customized uniforms which may be expensive, we recommend you request swag from the Wikipedia store. The swag and its transportation expenses are covered by the Rapid Fund program. You can even request swag for any future projects.
  • One of the ESEAP committee members who also reviewed the proposal – User:YShibata – will connect you to other Japanese community members who are running similar projects and who may support you in the planned activities. Would you please consider reaching out to these community members and thinking how you can collaborate with them?
  • Could you give the rationale why you set 10 Wikipedia articles and 100 Wikimedia Commons images as the target of this project?
  • Do you collaborate with any local libraries? How can we support you in your partnership with them?
  • You mentioned that you would expect to have 1,500 visitors/participants. Do you have any plans to attract them to the Wikimedia community? How?

Thanks again for your time and wishing you all the best! On behalf of the ESEAP regional funds review team. DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 11:52, 25 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for agreeing to my proposal.
I will answer the question.
    • Thanks for the suggestion. Today, we need event uniforms with a stronger message than Wikipedia store clothes to promote this little-known project, but in the future, we can wear Wikipedia store clothes on a daily basis. I would like to consider clothes.
    • Yes‼ I have already been in contact with User:YShibata and her project members. We are planning a Zoom meeting in August.
    • Of the projects to be held in this application, only 7 (4) will create a new entry on Wikipedia. It is scheduled to be held over 4 times. About 10 first-time editors work in groups each time, so considering their experience and skills, I thought that creating 10 articles would be an appropriate goal. Many other edits are made to improve the quality of existing articles.
    • Wikimedia Commons images, on the other hand, can be uploaded quickly and can be experienced throughout any event. Since this does not require support from libraries, etc., individuals can take on the challenge more easily. For this reason, we assumed that there would be 10 times more photo submissions than creating a new Wikipedia article.
    • Based on my past experience with Wikipedia Town and my work related to the library's award system (Library of the year selection committee), I believe that building the necessary partnerships with library staff It's not difficult.
    • The library exhibition attracted more than 30,000 visitors over the past three days. This year, the venue will be slightly smaller and the event will be held for two days, but we expect about 50% of the number of visitors to the usual year, and about one in ten of them will visit the Wikipedia exhibition. With that in mind, we set a numerical target of 1,500 people.
    • It is not realistic to give a lecture to all 1,500 people on the spot. Therefore, we will produce and distribute 1,500 copies of materials that introduce Wikimedia's activity philosophy, activity subsidy system, and the benefits of enriching Wikipedia's items, which have been visualized from past activities and subsequent follow-up surveys. Among them, if you are interested in Wikipedia editing, we would like to enrich the guidance for beginners so that you can easily take on the challenge, and we would like to contact the necessary personnel as necessary.
