General Support Fund proposal approved in the amount of 3,994,850 CZK[edit]

Congratulations! Your grant is approved in the amount of 3,994,850 CZK (~ 176,372.63 USD) for your first year with a grant term starting 1 January 2022 and ending 31 December 2023.

In the next year, Wikimedia Czech Republic will be focused on a number of goals across its programs in education, community, and partnerships: Supporting newcomers from a diverse set of communities to participate in the movement, developing the skills and needs of its current community, and building relationships with cultural institutions that both benefit the movement and the chapter’s own capacity to support effective programs.

The committee supports the programmatic plan overall, and is especially interested in the work related to the Wikidata/Tech program and residents to support contribution to this quickly growing project. The proposal also clearly outlines the specific communities that WMCZ wants to invite into their programmatic work and the movement, including LGBT communities, older populations, and women, and how they will engage with these audiences. Finally, the committee notes their appreciation for clarity in your evaluation plan for your programs, as well as the level of information in your budget, such as how partners are cofinancing some of these important initiatives.

The full amount of funding requested could not be supported because the Foundation is not currently supporting international travel as a part of its funding activities due to COVID-19-related risks globally, so these expenses were deducted from the total. Any other international travel needs can be reallocated to other activities at your discretion. Should this policy change, your program officer is happy to discuss supporting you with international travel needs. Importantly, there are no specific restrictions on local travel, as long as these activities do not conflict with your local laws and restrictions.

The committee also noted some needs and requests related to the proposal which can be completed early next year:

  • Compared to the chapter's prior APG, we would like you to confirm any FTE changes for returning staff described in this proposal.
  • Please confirm the FTE for the new staff position (Manager of Programmes for Community)
  • The committee would also like to understand more about the programmatic or practical needs for multiple staff members (e.g. manager and coordinator) for a single program, though some clarity around this question may be addressed by understanding the FTE for these respective roles. This can be discussed further at a check-in meeting early in 2022.

We look forward to working together with Wikimedia Czech Republic to support movement activities and needs in the region. On behalf of the committee, I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 19:50, 22 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
