Comments from WMF[edit]

Hello Kunokuno, thanks for submitting this Rapid Grant proposal and for organizing the Bikol Wiktionary edit-a-thon. We have reviewed this request and have the following questions and comments:

  • How will you make the printed Bikol Dictionary and Bikol Orthography Guide available for all participants? How will you make sure that you don’t violate the copyrights when using these books?
  • Please update the target Wikimedia project mentioned in the probox. I think it should be “Wiktionary” and not “Wikipedia”.
  • Are you a member of the PhilWiki Community User Group or organizing this project on behalf of it?
Budget
  • Please provide more details about the Internet expenses. Is this only for you or for all participants? For how many participants do you plan to provide reimbursement of the Internet costs?
  • What is being covered under “Communication expenses”?
  • Do you think providing food and drink for an online event is feasible? How will you deliver food to the participants?

I’ll look forward to your responses~ Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 13:43, 14 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello DSaroyan (WMF) ,

Thank you for your comments to this request. Here are my answers to your questions.

1.The Bikol Dictionary and Orthography Guide will be made available to the few target participants who doesn't have yet a copy. As of the moment, the target participants to be invited to this edit-a-thons are mostly writers and some of them might already have the copy for themselves. The borrowing of books will be done on a rotation period. Since the schedule is on a Saturday, we will have ample time during the week to exchange the use of the dictionary for taking down notes and learning the guide.

How will you make sure that you don’t violate the copyrights when using these books?

As of the copyright issues, the Bikol Dictionary is written in Bikol-English format. In the Wiktionary, we will be putting in Bikol-Bikol words and definition. We will only use it as a guide on how to write the words technically correct and see how it is being used in a sentence. Also, the Orthography Guide is just a guide on derivation of words, diacritical marks, and proper syntax. It is also written in English text.

2.Thank you for noticing my mistake. I have already updated the probox.

3.Yes I am a member, but I don’t play any vital role in the organization anymore. I don’t hold any position to manage a committee and I am no longer an officer. Also, as of the moment I am not delegated to any of the tasks of the current activities of the PhilWiki User Group. This project is my initiative to pursue the purpose of my previous training on the Bikol Wiktionary Trainers’ Training and Edit-a-thon.

Also, here is my clarification about the budget expenses.

I have updated the internet expenses budget. This will cover my internet connection. It was supposed to cover both my internet expense and for the other veteran editor who will be invited, however there's a chance that this would already exceed the amount allotted for an individual grant. But, if I cannot push through on purchasing the needed Bikol Dictionary and Bikol Orthography guide, I can realign that budget to this expense.

Communication expenses:

Communication expenses will cover expenditures on contacting participants and other volunteers for the event. I cannot assure that all participants are always active via social media so I think there's still a need to communicate with them through phone call or sms.

Food expenses:

Providing food and drinks for this event is workable. We have food delivery services here in the Philippines. Also, as the organizer of this event, it is the only reward I can give for the volunteers that will help me achieve my mission on improving the Central Bikol Wiktionary.

Approved[edit]

Hello Kunokuno, thanks for responding to my questions and apologies for the delay in getting back to you. I have set the start date of your project to 28 August 2020 and approved your request. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 08:11, 27 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi DSaroyan (WMF) No worries for the delay. Actually, I was preparing beforehand. Thank you for taking the time on reviewing this grant. Kunokuno (talk) 13:27, 27 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Extension of Completion Date[edit]

Hi DSaroyan (WMF),

I am writing to request for an extension of the completion date for my project which was supposed to be accomplished by October 3, 2020. I have already requested beforehand for it to be rescheduled to October 17, 2020 but I guess it was overlooked so I was not able to receive a response. As you have heard, things didn’t go so well here in the Philippines this month because we’ve been struck by two strong typhoons (Rolly and Ullyses). I guess I needed to sort out myself and be back on track with regards to this project. An extension of one month, which would fall in December would mean a lot. I just needed to make sure that the end result of this project would still be successful and met its goals. This is also a request on behalf of the editors that took part in the activity since they still would need ample time transferring the copy-edited definitions on the incubator. I was not able to foresee this unfavorable conditions, hence the timeline for the edit-a-thons were compressed into a limited period. I hope the Rapid Grants team may be able to consider this. Thank you. Kunokuno (talk) 06:53, 27 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Kunokuno, thanks for your request. I'm approving it and offering an extension until December 31, 2021. The new reporting due date is January 31, 2021. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 07:51, 27 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Extension for deadline of Grant report[edit]

Hi DSaroyan (WMF),

I am writing to you to request for an extension for my grant report. I have already created a draft report by which you may check some of the highlights of the project. However, I may need another time to complete a much detailed report. I was not able to track down the changes after the project was transferred to an official wiki page. I would like to submit each editor's contribution of edits(words, pronunciations, uploaded file on commons, links) as it may serve as reference for evaluation of projects. Also, as I have mentioned previously on my other grant report that some files I was trying to recover on my computer that was devastated by the typhoon needs to be located. And lucky I was able to create a back up beforehand on my email. For now, I would like to request for extension, if it's possible, so I could create the final report and submit the needed receipts after I consolidate all the documents. I hope you consider my request. Thanks!Kunokuno (talk) 12:50, 31 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Kunokuno, thanks for reaching out to me. I would be happy to offer another extension for the report. Could you please specify the amount of time you need to complete the report? Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 07:39, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi DSaroyan (WMF), Thank you for your prompt response. Is two months extension permissible? I forgot to mention that I'll also be attending classes for the Identifying and Addressing Harassment Online course this February and I was also chosen by a fellow Wikimedian to assist on his project. But if this extension is too long enough, maybe I could settle for one month and submit my final report. That would be alright to me. Kunokuno (talk) 08:02, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Kunokuno, it is possible given the reason your provided. I'm formally approving this request; the new reporting due date for this grant is 31 March 2021. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 08:52, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi DSaroyan (WMF), I have sent the documentation of receipts on the email and also finalized my grant report. Thanks! Kunokuno (talk) 12:48, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Kunokuno, I confirm the receipt of the expense documents and final report. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 09:30, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
