Hello Sakhalinio and Mehman97, and thank you for this report on the Turkic Marathon 2020. I am accepting your report with the followng comments and questions

  • The outcomes you've reported here around participation and content creation are very high, so congratulations on these achievements in your community outreach and to the volunteers for their contributions. This is a great achievement for your marathon! Why do you think there were so many more participants than you initially expected? Were there any issues with accommodating a larger number of participants than expected?
  • Unfortunately in some of Wikipedias the activity was very low, which didn't give us the opportunity to create more content in them. Do you this is primarily because the number of editors in those communities are low, or were there are other factors that affected participation?

With thanks, I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 18:37, 18 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Chris, thanks for your input and support. First of all, sorry for the late reply, unfortunately now I'm too overwhelmed and couldn't find the time.
  • The more number of participants, in my opinion, was due to the fact that this was the first such marathon and it generated a lot of interest among the communities. For some communities, it became the first marathon in the history of local Wikipedia. In addition to the above, the local organizers showed great interest and did a great job in organizing the marathon locally. Communicating directly with the contestants in their language increases the activity.
  • We encountered this problem in three Wikipedias: Kazakh, Tuvan and Tatar, where the number of editors in general is not so more, which caused this problem. Despite this, Tuvan Wikipedians managed and wrote the maximum number of articles, which cannot be said about Kazakh and Tatar Wikipedians.

I hope, I was able to answer your questions accurately and in detail. If you have any other questions, write to me. Thanks for your work and support. Kindly, --Mehman 97 23:44, 1 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
