Comments from DSaroyan (WMF)[edit]

Hi M-Mustapha, thanks for submitting this Rapid Grant. We are excited about this training, especially given that the Hausa language has been selected as one of the focus languages for Wikifunctions and Lexicographical data.

  • We now require all grantees to announce their projects and receive the Wikimedia community feedback in advance. Could you please announce this project and grant on the relevant community pages on the target wikis? Community notification may be most appropriate on a village pump, talk page, or mailing list. Please paste a link into the proposal page to where the relevant communities have been notified of this proposal, and to any other relevant community discussions.
  • Is this grant requested on behalf of Hausa Wikimedians User Group? If it isn't, are you holding any leadership positions in this affiliate?
  • Do you have any experience in working with lexicographical data on Wikidata?
  • Additionally, do you have any team members who have linguistic knowledge or education? From my personal experience, you would definitely need someone who has some linguistic knowledge of the Hausa language.
  • Which sources will you use for the lexicographical data?

Budget. I need more information about some items in your budget:

  • Event space - this seems high from what we usually approve for the grantees from Nigeria. Could you please provide more details about the space and its price?
  • Laptops and projector rent - how many laptops do you plan to rent?
  • Data for internet access - does this include internet bundles or you plan to acquire internet for the event location?
  • Tags, Flyers and Banner & Transport and communications - provide more detailed breakdown.
  • Contingency - reduce by half (50 USD).

Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 09:10, 27 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Additional comments[edit]

Hi M-Mustapha, thanks for your response. I have some follow-up requests.

  • Since you are holding leadership role in Hausa Wikimedians User Group, this grant should be credited to this user group. The board members and any others in a leadership role in the user group are ineligible for funding in their capacity as an individual. The reason for this is because there is substantial ambiguity in meaningfully separating one's role with an affiliate in a leadership role and one's individual capacity outside of that role. So, please add the user group's name to the proposal, so that the grant is requested on its behalf.
  • Please update the total requested amount in USD and NGN in the probox.
