Comments from WMF[edit]

Hello Kaizenify, thanks for submitting this Rapid Grant request. I think this is an amazing project for the celebration of the Nigerian Independence Day. I appreciate the efforts you’ve put into planning and leading this project. I have reviewed your application and have some questions and comments:

  • Are you planning to publish the promotional video under a Creative Commons license compatible with Wikimedia Commons?
  • Since you and other organizers are from Wikimedia Nigeria, I’m wondering whether this grant is credited to Wikimedia Nigeria or any other Wikimedia affiliate?
  • Could you please double check the total budget in Nigerian Naira? It seems that the total budget in your local currency should be higher than what is requested.
  • Please provide more information on what costs the "Miscellaneous" line will cover.
  • Could you provide a more detailed breakdown of the “Social media promotion, banner designing & internet” expenses?

I’m looking forward to your responses! Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 14:06, 24 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello DSaroyan (WMF). Thank you so much for the kind words and the questions.

  • Yes, the promotional video will be publish under Creative Commons License CC by SA which is compatible with Wikimedia commons.
  • This project is an individual grant borne out of my capacity which will benefit Wikimedia Nigeria, Yorùbà Wikimedia Usergroup, and other language usergroups in Nigeria. Olushola Olaniyan listed here who is a member of the Wikimedia Nigeria Usergroup is only an advisor and Alice Kimbobo is from Wikimedia Usergoup Uganda that will be joining in virtually as one of the facilitator.
  • I just fixed the total budget in Nigeria naira now, there seems to be an error with it while I was computing/converting it. Thanks for pointing me to this.
  • Miscellaneous cost of 100$ will cover the logistics cost of transport moving around when it arises, internet data for users who might not have internet subscription, the cost of using the zoom webinar platform and also to cover any unforeseen expenses during the project.
  • For the Social media promotion, banner designing & internet expenses of 440$: we will be promoting the video on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram with a cumulative cost of 280$ to reach atleast 10,000 audience (this is cheaper because we will be leverage on my experience as a social media expert), Banner design will be in infographics format explaining the project and banner for awareness of the project on social media and this will be at a cost of 100$ and the internet expenses will be the cost of data for the edit a thon and also for video uploads across social media at a cost of 60$. Hope this explained it?

Thanks once again. Kaizenify (talk) 15:22, 24 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Approved[edit]

Hello Kaizenify, thank you so much for your responses. I am approving this request with an additional question:

  • I noticed that one of your targets is to have at least 10,000 views on your video. How have you measured this target and how you are going to reach it? Do you have any communication plan?

Best wishes, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 07:48, 27 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you DSaroyan (WMF) for approving this. Yes I have a plan to reach atleast 10,000 views, and the plan will be to post it on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter and thereby promoting it while putting the necessary keywords for maximum engagement. So the cumulative of this view across all channels will be atleast 10,000. Thanks once again Kaizenify (talk) 10:53, 27 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
