Comments from Checkingfax[edit]

  • Do not support - Too costly. Excessive budget (every line item is bloated).[1] Bad ROI. Can be conducted on Zoom as a free or low-cost, virtual event. 76K is a year's salary in the Philippines.
[1] As but one example is that the Grantee is requesting sanitation kits for 7200 php for 60 units, whereas the true cost for 100 units is only 300 php. - Checkingfax (talk) 14:50, 12 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Clarification for the Rapid Grants team[edit]

Health and safety kits amounting to PHP 7,200.00 is composed of KN95 mask, face shield, and ethyl alcohol.

  1. Face shield with frame - PHP 45.00
  2. Face mask (KN95) - PHP 33.00 (1-19 pcs.)
  3. Ethyl Alcohol - PHP 45.00
  • Total amount for each kit: approx. PHP 92.00
  • Expected no. of participants: 30
  • Target no. of events: 6
  • PHP 92.00x30 participants: PHP 2,760.00

Since there is only expected 10 participants for every session, I have given a rough assumption that at least half of it will be repeat participant so I doubled the amount of PHP 2760.00.
PHP 2760.00x2= PHP5,520.00

Face shields and KN95 masks are disposables. Face shields are required on transportations and entering establishments upon city ordinance. Some prices vary especially if it is to be bought on a physical store so I provided an allowance for excessed amount. However, since this is still a proposal, it's still open for changes and suggestions. Kunokuno (talk) 08:24, 27 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Comments from WMF[edit]

Hello Kunokuno, thanks for submitting this Rapid Grant request and running the Art + Feminism campaign in the Philippines. Thanks also for providing more details about the costs of safety kits. I reviewed the grant proposal and have the following two questions:

  • We now require all grantees to announce their projects and receive the community feedback in advance. Could you please announce this project and grant on the relevant community pages of the target wikis (Central Bikol Wikipedia and Tagalog Wikipedia)? Community notification may be most appropriate on a village pump, talk page, or mailing list. Please paste a link into the proposal page to where the relevant communities have been notified of this proposal, and to any other relevant community discussions.
  • Budget: Communication Expenses and Documentation Expense - please provide breakdowns of these expenses.

Looking forward to hearing from you. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 14:29, 2 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi DSaroyan (WMF), thank you for reviewing my grant request. Here are additional details about this request.

  • A page with regards to this project is already created on the Central Bikol Wikipedia and as for Tagalog Wikipedia, I have sent a request on their portal that I'll be creating a page about this campaign. Once this is approved, I'll do the translation in Tagalog. Also, I'd be meeting with a program manager of Art+Feminism by February 12,2021 and I already posted this event on their calendar. The local website which has offered a space for the Bikol Wiktionary advertisement is also willing to provide a space for promoting this campaign. The participants for the previous year's campaign are already informed on their talk pages.
  • Breakdown of Budget for Communication Expenses and Documentation Expenses
  1. Communication Expenses amounting to PHP 3,500.00
5 organizers x 6 events x 100 prepaid load = approximately P3,500.00 (Prepaid load usually differs from every other loading station)

This will be utilized for communicating before the actual events so it would be easy to call or text those that would be present at the sessions. This is also to do follow ups for those editors who are willing to be repeat participants for the next session.

  1. Documentation Expense amounting to PHP 2,000.00
During the previous experiences, photos taken using mobile phones are of low quality and sometimes prone to deletion as it occupies huge memory space. This expense will be utilized for rental of a DSLR Camera so as to document the entire events. I hope this things will be considered but this is always open for adjustments. Thank you very much. Suggestions from Community Hours: 2021 Art+Feminism Funding Opportunities[edit]

I have attended during the Community Hours: 2021 Art+Feminism Funding Opportunities and I would like to try the suggestion of having to interview some notable females from the arts and feminism movements and create articles based on the collected data. I have extended the end date to accommodate interview schedules. The number of articles are also lessened as I would want to try another approach of creating much quality articles. This is based upon the page views and no. of edits of last year's articles created and as also suggested during the short meeting. I hope this adjustments could be permitted. Thank you.Kunokuno (talk) 08:28, 10 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Approved[edit]

Hi Kunokuno, thanks for your comments. We are happy to support your project and approve this grant! Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 07:56, 11 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Request for extension of end date[edit]

Hi DSaroyan (WMF), I would want to request for an extension of end date of this project to May 22, if possible. I have already sent email prior to this request here on Meta. The reasons I have stated are the final assignment on my wiki-administrator's course, tasks assignment from my co-wikimedian's project, and the interviews I wasn't able to conduct in person due to much strict COVID-19 health protocols in our area. I hope this will be granted. Kunokuno (talk) 12:32, 23 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi Kunokuno, thanks for the heads up! Your request is formally approved, the grant end date is extended to May 22, the new reporting due date is June 22, 2021. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 07:53, 26 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
