Comments from DSaroyan (WMF)[edit]

Hello omorodion1, thanks for submitting this Rapid Grant request. I have a few questions after reviewing the grant application.

  • What’s the need for having 5 participants during the photowalks? How have you selected the photowalk participants?
  • With having five participants traveling to the same locations, there is a risk you will take photos of the same objects. How will you plan the photowalks, so that the participants don’t take duplicate or repetitive photos?
  • Do you have any experience in running similar photowalks? Who will be leading the training on Wikimedia Commons?
  • Photowalks are in-person activities, so please clarify your response to question #8.

Looking forward to hearing from you. Best, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 10:56, 11 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

My Response[edit]

Thank you DSaroyan (WMF) for taking time to review my grant request. kindly find below my response to your comments/query.

  • Using fewer than 5 photographers for the photowalk will put too much pressure and burden on the participants. The more participants we have, the better the coverage. Again, one of the goals of this project is to introduce new members to Wikimedia Commons and other Wikimedia projects. Hence the need for 5 participants. The participants for this project will be selected based on their photographic skills and their readiness to contribute to the Wikimedia projects.
  • The participants will be scattered across different locations within the region so as to comprehensively cover the region and also to ensure each participants take unique photos. This will help prevent duplication of efforts.
  • I have organized Wikimedia events in the past. I am the organizer of Open Semester Training and Edit-a-thon in Samuel Adegboyega University, Ogwa. User Kaizenify will bring his wealth of experience into this project as he has been involved in Photowalk projects in the past. He will also lead the training on Wikimedia Commons.
  • I have corrected my response to question #8 on the grant application page.

Thanks once again.
