Hi OtuNwachinemere, thank you for submitting this Rapid Grant application. We are excited about your plans to run a series of photowalks and photograph different educational institutions in Niger and Abuja states, Nigeria. I have some questions after reviewing your grant proposal that I’d like you to respond to:

  • What’s the need for having five professional photographers in these photowalks? Can’t you travel and take photos of these objects with, for example, two photographers?
  • Do the five photographers plan to travel to the same places? If so, how will you make sure that all of them take unique photos?
  • Have you already engaged all participants? If yes, could you please share their usernames?
  • Are you in touch with the educational institutions linked in the proposal? Do you need to request any permission to photograph these objects?

Looking forward to hearing from you. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 09:25, 29 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Response[edit]

Hello DSaroyan (WMF), many thanks for the review. To your questions:

  • I thought about it, but while it'll appear longical, it'll also be really super tedious and take way way longer to accomplish. Also, one of the project goals is to recruit new photographers to the Wiki Commons project which doesn't seem to have a lot of popularity this side. Imagine all the listed institutions and not a single photo on Commons. We need more hands.
  • Yes, they'll be evenly distributed across the grounds. Some will even take high quality indoor photos.
  • Yes, but they are yet to sign up on the Wikimedia platform. They're all already informed and are really just waiting for project approval. Registering will not be a challenge, I assure you.
  • Yes and No. Mostly leveraging personal relationships. I have had academic stints at some of the institutions. There will be I.D cards and shirts for easy identification.

Thanks once again.--OtuNwachinemere (talk) 20:21, 29 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
