Grants talk:Project/Rapid/Rapid/2022 Wiki Hackathon in Kwara State

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Thank you for applying to host a local meetup at the Wikimedia Hackathon! We are so grateful you took the time to put together a proposal, and are highly impressed by your work. We have some questions regarding your application. Please address these questions as soon as possible.

  1. There is another local meetup application for a community in Kwara State. Would you be open to combining with their local meetup?
  2. The local meetup grants cannot be used to sponsor swag, prizes, shirts, or certificates, in order to keep the experience standard and fair for other participants around the world. You can however use the funds to print out Hackathon artwork or posters for during the event. Can you adjust your itemized total?
  3. What is the administrative charge for?
  4. This grant is to support Hackathon contributions from technical contributors. This is not for an edit-athon. How will you ensure this event supports the technical growth of the community?
  5. Would you be interested in having a WMF staff member attend or support the event? (This will not affect your application).

Thank you again for your proposal!

Our regards,

The Hackathon Local Meetup Committee

Response[edit]

Thank you very much HLepp (WMF) for reviewing my application.

1. Yes, the team is open to combining with the other local meetup you mentioned.

2. I have adjusted my itemized total.

3. The administrative charge is to be used for the airtime for communication, internet for meetings with potential partners and meetings/calls with vendors.

4. This event will support the technical growth of the community in various ways. One of which is to create local developers community in Kwara State which will continue to contribute to the technical growth of the community. Another is to challenge the developers to brainstorm ideas that can be added to the development of the community. Another is to create or improve tools, fix bugs and other technical activities such as documentation and translation.

5. Yes, we would like to have a WMF staff member to attend the event so as to train, enlighten and also do a presentation to participants about the technical aspects of the community. Besides, one of the 2022 Hackathon committee members, James Moore200 would be present during the time for the events.

Hello @Favourdare123!
Thank you for your prompt response.
We still see T-shirts in your itemized total. Will you please remove that item and adjust your total?
Finally, @Bukky658 is the contact for the other meetup. We will only proceed with one Kwara State meetup. Please coordinate with Bukky658 on this proposal page to combine teams.
Thank you! HLepp (WMF) (talk) 02:20, 6 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hello @HLepp (WMF),
The cost of the T-shirts has been removed from the total but I forgot to remove it from my itemized resources needed.
I apologize for the oversight.
