Grants talk:Simple/Applications/Wikimedia Taiwan/2021

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

APG approved in the amount of 87,932 USD[edit]

Congratulations! Your grant is approved in the amount of 87,932 USD, with a grant term starting 1 January 2021 and ending 31 December 2021.

Wikimedia Taiwan has accomplished a great deal during the past year, including publishing a methodology of collaboration with a cultural institution to integrate its works into Wikidata, completing introductory and guide pages for Wikidata in Traditional Chinese, and both planning and formalizing a Code of Conduct for its organization. We applaud these efforts toward structured data and establishing important organizational practices in your communications and interactions in the Wikimedia movement.

In 2021, Wikimedia Taiwan plans to maintain its Education, GLAM & Wikidata, and Diversity & Community Health programs from the current year. We applaud the chapter’s efforts to increase accessibility to more aspects of Wikidata by planning to develop translations beyond the introductory pages, such as on batch imports. We also appreciate the chapter’s focus on directly engaging local languages communities (e.g. Hokkien, Hakka) to evaluate how the chapter may be able to best support their needs.

The chapter has requested an increase in its budget to primarily support a change in its office as well as as split a full-time staff position into two part-time staff positions: a Project Coordinator (專案執行人員) who will coordinate program operations and a Project Researcher (專案研究人員) who will primarily be supporting the GLAM and Wikidata program by identifying suitable partners for Wikimedia Taiwan to collaborate with.

Finally, one of Wikimedia Taiwan’s grantee-defined metrics is the number of activities run, but the completion of activities does not convey a lot of direct information about the importance or benefit of those events. We would like to see Wikimedia Taiwan consider a different grantee-defined metric or other ways of evaluating its programmatic goals, and encourage the chapter to look at other grantee-defined metrics in the metrics worksheet for possible ideas to consider.

We look forward to supporting Wikimedia Taiwan’s work in 2021!

Regarding the request for the repayment to be used to expand the 2021 budget[edit]

The original 2020 subsidy NTD 94,258 should be returned, and we hope that it can be used to hire additional international liaison specialists in 2021.

This commissioner will mainly assist the Diversity and community health part of the 2021 plan by translating the record information of the Taiwanese community recorded on the meta-wiki and making it available to the international community for reference.

The quantitative indicators can also help us create more content pages, whether it is to provide a summary of international event information in Chinese or to translate important news from Taiwan into English for international promotion.--Allenwang6212a (talk) 08:03, 19 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
