Grants talk:TPS/Netha Hussain/Ada Camp and Open Source Bridge, 2014/Report

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Committee feedback[edit]

Hi Netha,

Thank you for submitting this report - we're really excited by your participation! Both of your AdaCamp sessions in particular seem to have gone very well and were such a great fit for the event and your aims on behalf of Wikimedia. We're also glad you got to connect with so many other Wikimedians, and look forward to seeing the future collaborations that you mention develop :) Thanks in advance for working on some Learning Patterns when you can - they'd be much appreciated to share your findings more widely. We note that you are still perhaps using an older version of the reporting template, which is fine this time, but for future requests please do use the new (shorter!) template instead. And if/when you do create any other communications about your own experiences from these events (Learning Patterns, blog post, etc), we'd love to have you add the links to this report as well. Thanks, as always, for spreading the word about grants to other participants...we really appreciate all you do for the movement.

Once grants admin has confirmed she's got all financial details received, this report will be marked accepted.

Best wishes, Siko (WMF) (talk) 17:00, 3 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, Siko for looking into my report! In being a TPS grantee, I feel as if I became more systematic. Every evening, after returning from the conference venue, I used to ask myself :"What have I done for Wikimedia today?", "How many new people did I meet today with whom I can collaborate to make Wikimedia better?". If it was not for writing the report, I would not have dwelt deeply on these questions. I think this is one exercise I should keep practicing after participating in any event, regardless of the source of funding.
I also feel that travel report writing should be an ongoing process, it is not to be completed as soon as the committee accepts the report. It would be good to consider asking the grantee to write a preliminary report in 14 days, and invite them to submit as many follow up notes as possible. I am willing to experiment on this by adding notes and links to the report whenever I create new communications related to my participation. --Netha Hussain (talk) 05:34, 5 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
