Dear Ngostary2k,

Thank you for submitting this grant application. We are excited about you planning for a Wikimedia event in Anambra state as this will further cement the existing of Wikimedia Nigeria network in the region The Wikimedia Usergroup Nigeria community Support Fund Committee has reviewed your application and they have some follow-up questions and requests regarding your application:

  • Since this is an intervention project in Anambra to bring about Wikimedia awareness with more new participants; so we are wondering why the number of new editors expected for the event is 7. Can this be adjusted?
  • Lastly, we understand the need for the data but can you justify giving each participant data subscription rather than a central internet router which is cost-effective and cheaper?

We look forward to your response and we thank you for the work you do within the Wikimedia Nigeria movement.

On behalf of the WUGN Community Support Fund Committee. All the best, Ayokanmi (WUGN) (talk) 17:42, 30 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Dear Ayokanmi (WUGN),
Thank you for acknowledging my proposal. I initially made the number of new participants to be 7 but based on your advice, I will increase it to 12. This is because, although it is a new intervention and the first in English Wikipedia in Onitsha, Anambra, I want to make it very effective as a pilot awareness program. I hope subsequent ones will attract more people.
On the data subscription, I planned on giving individual data to avoid the disruption and fluctuation of internet connectivity. I have been in a Wikipedia activity where the central internet router did not work out well. That caused the procurement of individual data which cost extra fund and disrupted the program maximally. I also taught of a situation where the IP may be blocked because of issue in editing and signing up which may affect everybody's connection. I feel individual data will allow the participants to subscribe to their preferred workable network for effective program. Thank you.
