This project aims to bring about a significant improvement in the quality, accuracy, and accessibility of information on Wikipedia and its sister projects. We aim to transform these Wikimedia projects into more reliable, up-to-date, and user-friendly sources of knowledge by leveraging Wikidata's technical tools and enhancing the technical capabilities and skills of editors. To address these challenges, our main approach involves integrating Wikidata's technical tools seamlessly into the editing workflow of Wikipedia and its sister projects. This integration will enable automated data updates, ensuring information accuracy and collaboration .

Rules[edit]

  • Please read the rules very carefully before the contest commences.
  • Articles must be in the mainspace by the end of the competition period.
  • All entries are expected to be fully sourced, with no unsourced claims. Try to make the formatting consistent with dates and layout; clean, useful new entries are what the contest is about.
  • It is important that before starting new entries, especially on the English Wikipedia, you take the time to ensure that articles meet notability guidelines and have the adequate coverage in reliable sources needed to be acceptable on Wikipedia.


Jury Process[edit]

In order to ensure transparency and fairness, scoring in this competition would be quantitative; keeping in mind that all articles must meet Wikipedia,Wikidata ,Wikivoyage and Wikibook standards for notability, quality and sourcing, as described in the rules declared in the following section. Any article may be disqualified at the judges’ discretion. The scoring system for the winners would be as follows:

  • One point (1.0) for integrating open data on Wikidata into Wikivoyage,Wikipedia and Wikibooks using Wikidata technical tools
  • One point (1.0) would be awarded for every use of Open Refine,Quickstatements and SPAQRL on Wikidata

Prize categories[edit]

Winning prizes are:

  • 1st prize: Shopping Voucher: 25,000NGN.
  • 2nd prize: Shopping Voucher: 20,000NGN
  • 3rd prize: Shopping Voucher: 15,000NGN
  • New editor award: 10,000NGN worth of Shopping Voucher

Contest timeline[edit]

  • Start for entries: 10th, November 2023
  • Deadline for entries: 30th December, 2023
  • Results announcement: January, 2024
