International Refugee Day Edit-a-thon
20-26 June 2022

On the occasion of World Refugee Day, June 20, Wikimedia Serbia is organizing a global edit-a-thon in which Wikipedia volunteers worldwide will write and improve articles on topics related to the ongoing refugee crisis, refugee human rights, movies, and books about the experience of refugees, etc. Refugees are not only forced to leave everything they have behind and go toward the unknown, but they also face discrimination, xenophobia, and various forms of violence daily along their way. This is especially detrimental to refugee children and women. By spreading the free knowledge about problems and obstacles that refugees have been going through our goal is to combat stigma prejudice and discrimination and reduce social distance towards them.
We invite you to join us in this activity marking World Refugee Day and to raise awareness about issues refugees face daily. We suggest you get in touch with NGO organizations and institutions that are focused on refugee issues in your country and introduce them to Wikipedia and other Wikimedia platforms.
