What is happening in Let’s Connect this month[edit]

Welcome to Mayl’s issue of the Let’s Connect monthly newsletter. In April we returned to doing learning clinics after our outreach month in May. April saw us have the highest plan to host learning clinic’s to date. Our May is packed with learning clinics and you do not want to miss any of them.

Did you miss Learning Clinics - no worries![edit]

News from Movement Strategy[edit]

For those following the conversations around the Movement Charter work, please find below and on Meta the feedback that the Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees gave to the Movement Charter Drafting Committee (MCDC) on April 30.

If you are interested in hearing more about the Foundation’s perspective, we shall also be making space at the upcoming cross-regional annual planning call on 15 May.

As a note, the letter addresses both high-level things, like values, and practical matters, like budget. Some of the text reiterates the feedback provided to the MCDC earlier.

Story from Let’s Connect[edit]

Greetings from the Let’s Connect team!!!

A few of our working group members and Let’s Connectors participated in the Wikimedia Summit 2024, Berlin, the 12th conference and the last one of its kind :), organised by the wonderful host Wikimedia Deutschland (WMDE).

The final round of discussion among the affiliates, hubs, and language/thematic group representatives on the MCDC chapters was conducted and based on final recommendations. A voting process was also completed. For the team, this experience was truly transformative and inspiring. Engaging with like-minded individuals from around the world who share a passion for knowledge-sharing and collaboration was incredibly rewarding. The discussions, descriptions and clarity at the summit provided valuable insights and perspectives on the future of the Wikimedia movement and affiliate gatherings.

The opportunity to network, learn from others, and contribute to shaping the direction of the community left us feeling motivated and empowered. Witnessing the collective efforts and enthusiasm of Wikimedians coming together to promote free knowledge and cultural diversity was a truly unforgettable experience that reaffirmed our commitment to the movement. Also several mentions of Let’s Connect program, as an insightful & empowering platform in the movement during all 3 days of the summit, left us feeling proud of our work, impact and of the movement at large.

Looking forward to more such marvellous experiences with the team & the Wikimedia movement. Let’s stay connected.. :)

Happy reading!!!
