This language has been verified as eligible. The language is eligible for a project, which means that the subdomain can be created once there is an active community and a localized interface, as described in the language proposal policy. You can discuss the creation of this language project on this page.
Once the criteria are met, the language committee can proceed with the approval.
If you think the criteria are met, but the project is still waiting for approval, feel free to notify the committee and ask them to consider its approval.
The community needs to develop an active test project; it must remain active until approval (automated statistics, recent changes). It is generally considered active if the analysis lists at least three active, not-grayed-out editors listed in the sections for the previous few months.
Item about the language at Wikidata. It would normally include the Wikimedia language code, name of the language, etc. Please complete at Wikidata if needed.
"Wikinews talk" (the discussion namespace of the project namespace)
Enable uploads
yes
Default is "no". Preferably, files should be uploaded to Commons.
If you want, you can enable local file uploading, either by any user ("yes") or by administrators only ("admin"). Notes: (1) This setting can be changed afterwards. The setting can only be "yes" or "admin" at approval if the test creates an Exemption Doctrine Policy (EDP) first. (2) Files on Commons can be used on all Wikis. (3) Uploading fair-use images is not allowed on Commons (more info). (4) Localisation to your language may be insufficient on Commons.
"Continent/City", e.g. "Europe/Brussels" or "America/Mexico City" (see list of valid timezones)
Additional namespaces
For example, a Wikisource would need "Page", "Page talk", "Index", "Index talk", "Author", "Author talk".
Additional settings
Anything else that should be set
submit Phabricator task. It will include everything automatically, except additional namespaces/settings. After creating the task, add a link to the comment.

SupportSupport There do already exist Kurdish WikiMedia-Projects, e.g. the kurdish Wikipedia with now nearly 10.000 articles and a wiktionary with nearly 35.000 articles. So there will be a future for this new Kurdish Project. --Bangin 17:34, 25 June 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]
SupportSupport It is necessary for every language to live in all aspects of Wikimedia. --Zandweb 02:41, 27 March 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]
SupportSupport there are 20 - 25 million people speaks this language. Wikinews is necessary for millions of Kurds. --Maviulke12 05:02, 16 December 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]
SupportSupport I support it.I agree Maviulkel12.85.176.140.77 14:12, 4 December 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Support - I support it! --Mirzali 22:29, 7 April 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Support - I support it to, we need that! Kurdodino 13:15, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
Support Kurdish Wiktionary is a particularly successful project and I am confident that the Wikinews would be as well. Bogorm 17:06, 19 August 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Support I think Kurdish wiki is eligible to have its Wikinews. thanks. TheStrayDog (talk) 12:45, 10 July 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Comment I want admins to consider that opposed users are mostly of Turkish descent which may not be neutral about this creation. That's because of Turkish-Kurdish underway conflict. Thanks. TheStrayDog (talk) 12:53, 10 July 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Comment Out of the 10,000 articles practically almost all are stubs created in a bot like manner. There are serious problems on KU wiki on a variety of problems ranging from neutrality to copyright violations. KU.wiki doesn't have much of a matured community. Very few active editors. I feel it is far too early for this. It should be experimented on the incubator either way. -- Catchi? 17:41, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
I'd like to add that wikinews has time constraints unlike other wikis. I do not believe there is enough of a Kurdish wikipedia community to cover world news in a systematic manner. -- Catchi? 11:45, 30 June 2007 (UTC)
Comment I thing this project won't be good. --Absar 10:41, 30 June 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]
This wasn't an argument against, it was just an opinion without any comment. --Bangin 14:03, 30 June 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Please do not strike out other peoples comments even if you disagree with them. The closing person of this discussion is more than qualified to weight arguments. -- Catchi? 14:18, 30 June 2007 (UTC)
There is something funny. All people who oppose Wikinews Kurdish are Turks. You really care Wiki - projects or you are just againist Kurdish culture? --Gomada 18:15, 17 June 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]
OpposeOppose As Jeroen said, the Wikipedia is too underdeveloped Rbritt518 06:22, 17 November 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]
OpposeOppose Oppose--Aycan 11:52, 17 May 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
OpposeOppose As Jeroen and Rbritt518 said,they should improve their wikipedia first,to start Wikinews.--Rockermert hsm 17:35, 5 July 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Oppose Nope, Wikinewses need to be fast and I see hardly any activity to justify the creation of this Wikinews. PmlineditorTalk 16:57, 16 September 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
OpposeOpposeIt needs to be a living project which there's no sign for it. I doubt it'll be updated enough. --Kafkasmurat (talk) 11:54, 2 November 2014 (UTC)Reply[reply]
