This proposal has been rejected. While this request has technically been rejected, in reality this is a request that has been sitting open or on hold for a long time with little evidence of a community coming together to build a project. If a community comes together in the future and makes a new request, LangCom would consider that new request without prejudice.
A committee member provided the following comment:
There were a few pages created immediately, but then very little. If a new community comes together LangCom will be willing to reconsider this project. StevenJ81 (talk) 10:28, 29 January 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]
The community needs to develop an active test project; it must remain active until approval (automated statistics, recent changes). It is generally considered active if the analysis lists at least three active, not-grayed-out editors listed in the sections for the previous few months.
Item about the language at Wikidata. It would normally include the Wikimedia language code, name of the language, etc. Please complete at Wikidata if needed.
"Wikipedia talk" (the discussion namespace of the project namespace)
Enable uploads
no
Default is "no". Preferably, files should be uploaded to Commons.
If you want, you can enable local file uploading, either by any user ("yes") or by administrators only ("admin"). Notes: (1) This setting can be changed afterwards. The setting can only be "yes" or "admin" at approval if the test creates an Exemption Doctrine Policy (EDP) first. (2) Files on Commons can be used on all Wikis. (3) Uploading fair-use images is not allowed on Commons (more info). (4) Localisation to your language may be insufficient on Commons.
"Continent/City", e.g. "Europe/Brussels" or "America/Mexico City" (see list of valid timezones)
Additional namespaces
For example, a Wikisource would need "Page", "Page talk", "Index", "Index talk", "Author", "Author talk".
Additional settings
Anything else that should be set
submit Phabricator task. It will include everything automatically, except additional namespaces/settings. After creating the task, add a link to the comment.

I think it will be intresting, mainly for people that live in Croatia.--U.Steele 18:27, 17 January 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Support An Istriot Wikipedia is needed. They are persons who know how it must be writen. Let's give them a chance to develop and edit in their own language thanks to a Wikipedia project ! --Sarvaturi (talk) 16:22, 25 September 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Seems to be pretty interesting. :-) LC (talk) 13:15, 17 August 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]
OpposeOppose Changing my vote. The project is only written in English, not Istriot. And there are no articles. Kanzler31 03:45, 24 July 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]
The test-wiki sems to contain some articles, but they are mostly written in Friulian, not in Istriot. E.g. this seems to have been created by copy-pasting fur:Friûl-Vignesie_Julie. I think there is no need for a fork of Friulian wikipedia under a wrong name. Furthermore, the articles seem to have been copied by user:Reder without mentioning his source, so they are copyright violations and should therefore be deleted. -- 141.20.6.94 22:31, 24 January 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]
