Mirandese Wiktionary

[edit]
submitted verification final decision

This language has been verified as eligible.
The language is eligible for a project, which means that the subdomain can be created once there is an active community and a localized interface, as described in the language proposal policy. You can discuss the creation of this language project on this page.

Once the criteria are met, the language committee can proceed with the approval.

If you think the criteria are met, but the project is still waiting for approval, feel free to notify the committee and ask them to consider its approval.

  • The community needs to develop an active test project; it must remain active until approval (automated statistics, recent changes). It is generally considered active if the analysis lists at least three active, not-grayed-out editors listed in the sections for the previous few months.
  • The community needs to complete required MediaWiki interface translations in that language (about localization, translatewiki, check completion).
  • The community needs to discuss and complete the settings table below:

If you want, you can enable local file uploading, either by any user ("yes") or by administrators only ("admin").
Notes: (1) This setting can be changed afterwards. The setting can only be "yes" or "admin" at approval if the test creates an Exemption Doctrine Policy (EDP) first. (2) Files on Commons can be used on all Wikis. (3) Uploading fair-use images is not allowed on Commons (more info). (4) Localisation to your language may be insufficient on Commons.

Additional namespaces For example, a Wikisource would need "Page", "Page talk", "Index", "Index talk", "Author", "Author talk".
Additional settings Anything else that should be set
Once settings are finalized, a committee member will submit a Phabricator task requesting creation of the wiki. (This will include everything automatically, except the additional namespaces/settings.) After the task is created, it should be linked to in a comment under "final decision" above.

Proposal

[edit]

I wanted to request the creation of the Mirandese Wiktionary. The same arguments of the Wikipedia in Mirandese can be applied for the creation of this project. It's very important one argument; Mirandese has been mostly spoken and there isn't one solid base of written documents, dictionary and so on. This project is just perfect to (even speakers) people could have more access to Mirandese writing. More, there are already lots of verbs already conjugated that are available in Word format and this seems the perfect platform to share them. I also would like to said that Mirandese Wikipedia project is not yet approved but i looks that we are in the good track. Sooner or later i think it will happen. To finish, i've checked some Wiktionary's (mainly in Portuguese) and there are already some translations from Portuguese entry's to Mirandese. Cecílio 05:23, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion

Arguments in favour

[edit]
  • This is sort of reply to OosWesThoesBes: Most Used Messages are finished. And i just requested the commit. Once again, i want to say that there is already some work done, specially with verbs, here's the link: verbs in Mirandese. Now it's the only platform available to share that (i'm not anti-Microsoft but Word doesn't seem a good way to share this information, if you had some doubt would you like to visit that site and search in Word documents?; also that work was done by just one person and with one Wiktionary more people could help). It just seems right to share that in one Mirandese Wiktionary. I requested authorization to the author of those documents and he is even ready to help, as he is doing in Wikipedia. --Cecílio 04:12, 28 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Mirandese is a language experiencing great expansion after its recognition by the Portuguese government in the previous decade. Lots of written works are being published and its ortography has been regulated recently. There is a significant group of people to which Mirandese is more familiar than Portuguese. Therefore, I'm totally in favor of the creation of this project, which I believe could become the biggest repository of vocabulary for the language. Malafaya 11:18, 2 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support As follower of the Holy Bible, I am in favour of the Wiktionary in Mirandese, until because already exist 219 entries in this Wiktionary.

Arguments against

[edit]
  • Sorry, but I don't see this happen. The community (of the Wikipedia on the incubator) is currently too small and even the 500 most-used messages aren't finished. It's better to wait and first work on the wikipedia. --OosWesThoesBes 09:58, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
All 500 most used messages are localized(i finished them; and request the commit twice, before finish them and after). Also the Wikipedia in Miradese was already considered as one of the most active in the incubator. I don't see what's the problem in start this project, the Wikipedia will still be my priority.Cecílio 18:52, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I checked now the most used messages and they are really not finished. I will fix that soon. But in the analysis to the Wikipedia most-used MediaWiki messages are underlined so at some moment they were finished. Sorry. --Cecílio 19:03, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Haj. I'll change to supportive when there's activity and I see some good contents :) --OosWesThoesBes 14:18, 28 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Other discussion

[edit]

Personal, already do 1 month and 11 days that I voted in favour of the Wiktionary Mirandese and until now nobody beyond me voted in favour of this Wiktionary? After the creation of all the entries with books of the Bible in Mirandese, he already has reached 249 entries. Please, vote in favour of the Wiktionary Mirandese.
