Investigación:Encuesta sobre la satisfacción con el soporte técnico
A finales de agosto de 2015 el equipo de Comunidad Técnica realizará una encuesta en 10 diferentes proyectos Wikimedia para preguntar a los miembros de dichas comunidades qué tan satisfechos están con el apoyo técnico proporcionado por la Fundación Wikimedia a sus proyectos.
Propósito
Esta encuesta es muy limitada en su alcance y sólo esta pensada para actuar como un indicador del nivel de satisfacción en la comunidad. No tiene como propósito encontrar soluciones a problemas de soporte técnico. (Esa tarea será cubierta por las encuestas futuras, como la encuesta de solicitudes) La encuesta se repetirá periódicamente y los resultados se compararan en el tiempo con el fin de ver si la satisfacción de la comunidad esta mejorando, esta en declive, o se mantiene igual.
Selección de los participantes
La encuesta será realizada a la miembros de la comunidad en 10 diferentes proyectos:
- Wikipedia en inglés
- Wikipedia en alemán
- Wikipedia en francés
- Wikipedia en ruso
- Wikipedia en chino
- Wikipedia en español
- Wikipedia en árabe
- Wikipedia en portugués
- Wikipedia en japonés
- Wikimedia Commons
Los participantes serán seleccionados aleatoriamente basados en las siguientes cualidades:
- Cuenta creada hace mas de un año.
- Prolifero contribuyente en los espacios de nombres de contenido o colaborador activo en los espacios de nombres técnicos.

Preguntas frecuentes
¿Cómo se escogieron los diez proyectos?
Cuatro de los proyectos son los idiomas con mayor número de artículos; cinco de ellos son de idiomas "estratégicos", es decir, los idiomas con un gran número de usuarios de Internet (véase http://www.internetworldstats.com/stats7.htm); asimismo, también se incluyó a Wikimedia Commons, ya que es uno de los proyectos más grandes, activos y tiene necesidades técnicas únicas. ¿Por qué no se incluyeron todos los proyectos?
Sobre todo debido a las limitaciones logísticas y de recursos. Por ejemplo, la traducción de las preguntas de la encuesta en más de 200 idiomas es extremadamente difícil, incluso con el apoyo de voluntarios. Esto no pretende ser un estudio exhaustivo, sólo un indicador, por lo que el beneficio de incluir la larga lista de proyectos probablemente no justificar el esfuerzo y el gasto adicional requerido.
¿Por qué no puedo enviar respuestas más detalladas?
El propósito de esta encuesta es la de actuar como un indicador de la satisfacción de la comunidad. No es la intención de encontrar soluciones a los problemas de soporte técnico. Tenga en cuenta que estaremos realizando encuestas más a fondo durante el próximo año. Across all the technical areas, 48% feel that WMF is mostly or completely meeting the technical needs of Wikipedia/Commons contributors. In looking at the individual technical areas, 54% or less of the respondents chose "mostly" or "completely" for any one technical area. The areas with the lowest "completely" or "mostly" scores were "Identifying and surfacing content problems", "Supporting WikiProjects", and "Supporting Gadgets, bots and 3rd party Tools".

In looking at the individual projects, 60% or less of the respondents chose "mostly" or "completely" for any project. The projects with the lowest "completely" or "mostly" scores are Japanese Wikipedia (26%), Wikimedia Commons (38%), and Chinese Wikipedia (44%). The project with the highest scores are Russian Wikipedia with 60% rating as "mostly" or "completely", and English, German, Portuguese and French Wikipedia all came in second, with ratings of 51% as "mostly" or "completely".

In doing a crosstabulation of number of years editing/contributing in the Wikimedia movement with overall scores of support in the technical areas, we find that there is a trend with how long an editor has been part of the movement and whether they feel the WMF is meeting technical needs. We can see that 50% of respondents with 1 year or less of service felt that WMF is "mostly" or "completely" meeting their needs. In contrast, only 36% of respondents with 11 years or more of service felt that WMF is "mostly" or "completely" meeting their needs.

In examining overall Satisfaction, we find that 48% of respondents were satisfied with the technical support that WMF provides, while 35% are dissatisfied. Projects where respondents were most satisfied was Russian, English, Portuguese, Spanish, and Arabic, where satisfaction ranged from 58% to 60%. Projects where respondents were least satisfied (by % satisfaction) were Japanese Wikipedia (22%) and Wikimedia Commons (24%). The projects with the highest proportion dissatisfied was German Wikipedia (29%) and Wikimedia Commons (29%).

In examining satisfaction and the number of years editing or contributing, we find a similar trend to the technical needs. The overall satisfaction level by age decreases as the number of years active on Wikimedia projects increases. Satisfaction ranges from 26% (for 11 years or more) to 67% (for 2-3 years).
