  • Personal information: 47 y.o., male, living in Kiev, Ukraine. On Feb., 2008 I'll be a father to Marìa Catlin-a, my first daughter. I’m a Bureaucrat at pms.wiki, since the very opening (March 2006), I’m responsible for most of pms localization, and I’m active member of LangCom since the start of it. I’m mostly engaged with less resourced languages. The reason I give my candidature is that since nowadays stewards are most likely to be needed by us small projects I feel it's time for us to grow up and quit being a problem to become the solution, in instead. I hope to see other such candidates joining me, so... be bold. BTW, the languages I state as -1 are good -2 as per reading capability and mostly a well rounded -0 as per writing.

Ich bin Bürokrat auf pms.wiki seit dessen Eröffnung (März 2006). Ich bin verantwortlich für den Großteil der Übersetzung der Wikioberfläche auf pms, und ich bin aktives Mitglied des Sprachkomittees seit dessen Gründung. Ich bin meistens mit Sprachen beschäftigt, die nur wenig Material haben. Der Grund, warum ich kandidiere ist, dass heutzutage Stewards höchstwahrscheinlich von uns kleinen Projekten benötigt werden. Ich denke, es ist Zeit für uns erwachsen zu werden und aufzuhören, ein Problem zu sein und stattdessen die Lösung zu werden. Ich hoffe, dass noch andere solche Kandidaten mitmachen, also... sei mutig. Übrigens, die Sprachen, die ich als -1 angegeben habe, sind gut -2 im Lesen und meistens rund -0 beim Schreiben.

  1. I suggest that we (the people from small projects) start to think in more global terms. Most of us only think in terms of own backyard. In the beginning you kind of get overwhelmed by the immense lag between your wiki and en.wiki. Many people end up with an uncontrollable urge towards quantity. We want to make as many articles as possible and want to make them as quick as possible. In instead, we really need to learn how to make structure. Sometimes it's much better to publish several thousands articles less and to deliver several more dozens of administrative jobs, in instead. We need to learn what sustainable means. We can choose to produce just as much as we are able to administer, instead of asking our major brothers to solve our problems all of the time.   16. While his Meta activity isn't huge, he has trusted administrative roles elsewhere, and a lot of (admittedly basic) language breadth, which is a major plus.   8. Berto has demonstrated both impatience and often condescending disrespect in conflicts and discussions (see more detailed information). I don't think his proficiency in Piedmontese compensates adequately, and any other steward with a machine translator can read many languages without being able to write them. Politeness and tact are primary weapons to let someone wander through multiple project, accord to himself check user access everywhere, block IP ranges or simply give sysop or bureaucrat access to user in small or not so small projects. I witnessed his first entrance as anonymous in it.wikisource, and after trying to kindly explain the local policies (nothing that a steward shouldn't know by common sense), I have to agree (unfortunately) with Accurimbono's and pathoschild's statements. Nothing against Berto's linguistic proficiency and his contributions here on meta, but the handbook for stewardship is written in another, not so easy to master, language. --εΔω 16:50, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
