Details[edit]

those are more details about this campaign

First, it is one of the three campaigns done through the Africa Knowledge Initiative (a partnership WMF - African Union). It is meant to celebrate Environment/Wangari Maathai Day – Mar 3, 2023.

This campaign will start in March and probably finish in April (as in "end of April"...). The goal is to improve content on Wikimedia projects related to Africa Climate and Environment. BUT, it is not necessarily restricted to contributions by Africans. It should be a global campaign, though on Africa related topic and though special pampering of African communities is planned. So we would prefer a banner to run over all geographies. BUT obviously, we are more likely to gather interest from African contributors. So... I suggest that we could actually run two different campaigns, with different set-ups...

  1. (campaign 1) one campaign over Africa, with more « weight » and « frequency » than
  2. (campaign 2) the campaign over the rest of the world

To be discussed as well (please bear with us, we are still building the concept...), whilst the campaign over Africa will be meant for all readers (logged-in, anons etc.), I am wondering if the rest of the World campaign should not be limited to logged-in users.

ALSO, part of the campaign will resolve about translation of content created during the first part of the campaign. So I am also wondering if the Rest of the world campaign should not mostly be on during a second phase.

Last whilst the campaign will probably last around 6 weeks (or even a bit more), the KEY day is March 3rd (aren’t we lucky that the key day is not March 8th ?). So on that day... we need a GOOD visibility globally.

More info to come. It was mostly to mention the need here... Anthere (talk) 18:49, 6 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
