Localization issue and general bug reporting

[edit]

Hi,

I found a localization issue with WikiLearn: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T322906

Also, would it be possible to allow bug reporting on Phabricator?

Thanks! Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 08:47, 11 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

There is now a WikiLearn tag on Phabricator. Asaf (WMF) (talk) 15:21, 17 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Glossary

[edit]

I've been translating the WikiLearn UI on translatewiki, and I'm finding many non-obvious terms. They can be translated incorrectly if no clear definition is provided. Some of them are repeated in multiple messages.

Here are some that I've found till now:

  • Apply: Does this mean "apply for a course", "apply changes to the course's settings or content", or something else? If it means different things in different contexts, it should be documented.
  • Course block: Is this a part of a course or a block of several courses?
  • course family: In the message "Select course family in which you want to display your course.". I suspect that it's about font families. If that's the case, perhaps it would be clearer to write simply "font". (Unnecessary messages should be removed from that message, too.)
  • Course Re-run and Translated Course Re-run: These need some clarifications. From the strings, it looks like there is something special about "Translated Course Re-run", but it's not entirely clear what it is.
  • Expend Outline: Completely unclear. Perhaps it should be "Expand"? It would correspond to "Collapse Outline".
  • Mapping: In the message "No Translations Found!, Please apply mapping." (The punctuation should be improved, too.)
  • TS: Completely unclear.
  • Wiki Progress: Completely unclear.

Thank you. Clarifications have been added to those strings on Meta. Asaf (WMF) (talk) 15:22, 17 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
