Talk:Global AbuseFilter/Archives/2016

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Hi,

Could you please use a less generic tag than "possible vandalism" for Special:AbuseFilter/131, such as "article blanking", so that I can write a tag description on frwiki that complies with local rules of frwiki, that say that tags should be specific and factual (although I could put an arbitrary description in w:fr:MediaWiki:Tag-possible vandalism, it would become inaccurate if the same tag is reused in a different filter).

Also, I think it is unfortunate that this filter (sometimes?) overrides the local version, because it shows the generic warning while the local version has its own message. A similar filter probably exists on many wikis, so I am not sure it is an improvement to enable warnings in the global version.

Thanks,

The filter is called "blanking article or replacing with unwikified text", it's the tag that adds the problem you raise. We can change that. As for local override, I'm afraid we can't do anything here but to deglobalize the filter, which I don't want to do as it helps identifying pattern problems.
