Languages[edit]

Hi @CKibelka (WMF): the language lists here seem a bit odd. You say there's translation into Arabic, French, Spanish, and Portuguese - but you don't say which language the sessions will be primarily held in? Presumably English, but hopefully that's not the main language for all of them? Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 19:04, 24 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Main language of the events is, as usual, English, and we'll provide interpretation for Arabic, Spanish, French (June 24 + 25) and hopefully Portuguese (on June 25). Cheers, Cornelius Kibelka (WMF) (talk to me) 19:07, 24 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

ideas here look good[edit]

these ideas look very good. looking forward to joining the discussions. --Sm8900 (talk) 21:26, 8 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Denial of access[edit]

Given that the discussions are closed to the community, noting I made an effort to find out the details to attend I register my opposition to the continuation of pilots, especially as the process ignores that Hubs have been function for many years already. Dear Gnangarra, I have sent you the link via email and Telegram private message. I hope you have received them and can join the conversation! --KVaidla (WMF) (talk) 05:03, 26 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
thanks, I did drop in for 30minutes but it was the first meeting that I would have been able to contribute to in a meaningful way by the time this invite came I had made other commitments as I was I told that I couldnt participate. Gnangarra (talk) 07:57, 26 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

not part of Affcom[edit]

I have always maintained that hubs should not be part of Affcom, there purpose is to support communities not create more power for Affcom. Hubs must not be seen as the way for affiliates to connect with Affcom but rather away from them to connect with each other and as a way to ensure that they have connections to other WMF & Community discussions especially where timing of events is regularly unsavoury or fails to provide live translations into a communities languages.
