List inclusiveness

There is an attempt to change the scope of this list: from a list meant to help people find channels, to something that "certifies" what channels are official or even "legal". I don't agree with such a change, because it will reduce the usefulness of the page and force some groups of wikimedians to create their own lists of IRC channels elsewhere, defeating any purpose the removal might have.

For instance, I had to restore some channels, often related to technical projects or initiatives beyond a specific Wikimedia project. What purpose does it serve to make channels such as #pywikibot, #semantic-mediawiki or #wikilovesmonuments unlisted (with 45, 30 and 15 nicks in them respectively)?

On the other hand, this list is not meant to keep alive non-standard channels which have little or no use, either. It could be useful to replace some non-standard channels when that's all it takes to nudge people to a better equivalent. I'm not sure that's the case for channels such as #vandalism-fr-wp, where I see a bot active and at least another nick. Nemo 08:15, 2 January 2018 (UTC)

+1. While I don't have a strong opinion about removals of inactive channels, I strongly object to removing regularly used channels like #pywikibot or #semantic-mediawiki from this list.
I understand the intention: Wikimedia group contacts are only responsible for some channel namespaces, like e.g. #wikimedia-*. freenode won't recognize them as group contact for channels like #pywikibot, which aren't in that namespace. I'm sure it'd make their work easier if all Wikimedia channels were in namespaces that the Wikimedia group contacts can claim ownership of, but that just isn't the reality.
Editing this page won't change the reality: There are channels outside of the "official" namespaces, which exist, are advertised and used regularly for years. Don't change the documentation, which is meant to lead people to the right channels they can find help in. Removing channels from this list without changing something on irc itself first isn't solving _any_ problem, it just adds another one: Regularly used channels for a given topic are harder to find, because this list becomes incomplete. That's not desirable. EddieGP (talk) 09:12, 2 January 2018 (UTC)

How can I edit my students biography Cricket Academy of Bihar (talk) 07:29, 15 February 2018 (UTC)

@Cricket Academy of Bihar: Hi, this isn't the correct place to ask about this, but if you're referring to a biography on the English Wikipedia, you may find this page helpful. As you're asking at the meta IRC pages, you may be looking for the English Wikipedia Live Help - TNT 07:58, 15 February 2018 (UTC)
