Talk:IRC/Quotes

And now, I present you with..[edit]

A talk page. Because someone complained that there wasn't one. — The preceding unsigned comment was added by Hedley (talk)

Is this not a copyright violation, or at least against channel policy?[edit]

According to IRC channels#Logging prohibition on .23wikipedia and other channels, if you log, "You should also seek permission from the participants in the discussion before publishing their words." I have certainly never been asked about the words of mine which are posted here. --SPUI 06:36, 1 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Neither have I and when I occasionally visit this page I remove any quotes by me that have been posted up here. Jtkiefer 23:42, 4 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Formatting question[edit]

If Jack says, say, "All your base are belong to us.", and then Sam acts "is on the way to destruction.", should it be formatted

<Jack> All your base are belong to us.
 * Sam is on the way to destruction.

or

<Jack> All your base are belong to us.
       * Sam is on the way to destruction.

It seems fairly obvious to me that it should be the former, not the latter, but that seems not to be the convention being followed. Why? The latter is ambiguous, in any case, since we're breaking lines. Also, where should part/join/mode/etc. messages go on the line, since they don't have any "message" portion? —Simetrical (talk • contribs) 19:51, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Rolling Stones quote "Get off of my cloud..."[edit]

but a chat room post being used as a quote in a more public forum is another matter. After all, it's supposed to be just chat... or is it a good idea for it to be copied and pasted into another conversation and used for some other purpose? -Edbrown05 09:37, 25 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Posting my own quotes[edit]

Is it ok to post my own IRC quotes, or do I have to ask somebody to do it? Thanks, Pokéfan95 (talk) 13:45, 14 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
