Point of this list[edit]

I don't quite get the point of this list. We have 76 Wikipedias with more than a thousand images, and 150 with a hundred or more, but only 50 with an EDP according to Non-free content. Those are the main problem. --Nemo 10:56, 18 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've added a few Wikipedias of those which still accept uploads but have thousands bad files. The first step is to tag a few hundreds files on each for deletion, then see if the admins react. If they don't, ask stewards to delete and consider other actions. Nemo 12:18, 19 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Nemo bis: All Wikipedias listed here, could also be listed at Non-free_content#Wikipedia. Maybe the tables there can be altered to display the information available here. Maybe in the mid-run there are ~150 at List of Wikipedias having zero local media files and ~150 at Non-free content#Wikipedia. 91.9.105.151 07:20, 22 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
That page is an official registry of the local EDPs, this is an informal page with information on the actual respect of the policy. Nemo 10:30, 22 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
It could be an official registry of the local EDPs, but you just re-inserted projects that have no local EDP. Also the page title isn't "official registry of local EDPs" or something like that, but "Non-free content". 91.9.105.151 11:47, 22 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The section name reads "Copyright policies"... --Nemo 15:34, 24 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Which does not describe the content of the section correctly. 91.9.108.136 17:54, 24 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Switch of Wikipedias to zero local media files[edit]

Some have switched to zero local media files, see List of Wikipedias having zero local media files.91.9.110.98 09:47, 20 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

List of unused files by project[edit]

I recently saw a Wikipedia having 379 unused files of 467 total files. Is there a list to detect such cases? 91.9.100.23 23:46, 23 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Not that I know, but we could make a SQL query. What is your purpose? If unused files might be free. Nemo 06:18, 24 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
If they are free, they could be moved to Commons. That would ensure uniform control whether they are. It would also make sharing of free content easier, which is one of the stated goals of the Wikimedia foundation? "make a SQL query" - where? Are there others to look at? 91.9.108.136 13:09, 24 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Moving stuff to Commons is a slow process and something we have little ability to influence in most cases, as nothing makes it mandatory. For such crosswiki queries I usually run a simple bash script on Tool Labs (like this one). Nemo 15:29, 24 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Anyone can mark files for moving and deletion. Any registered user can copy to Commons. Nothing slow. Just deletion of files violating the LP needs admins and therefore might be 'slow'. 91.9.108.136 18:17, 24 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

LP enforcement on GS Wikipedias[edit]

How could one get more help? Some GS members delete files - I am aware of two. Maybe there are others that would be happy to help with LP enforcement. But what cases can be presented to them? Could a list of GS Wikipedias that have local media files be generated? Columns:

  • dbname
  • qty of admins
  • qty of articles
  • qty of files
  • qty of unused files
  • qty of files w/o license tags
  • date of most recent upload
  • date of oldest upload

An estimate: List of Wikipedias/Table#1 000.2B articles contains 243 - 134 = 109 wikis, larger wikis are often not GS, smaller have no local files. 46 "1 000+" are listed at List of Wikipedias having zero local media files. So there are 109 - 46 = 63 "1 000+" Wikipedias having local files. 91.9.101.1 08:14, 12 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Page name - make this page a subpage of non-free content[edit]

List name lists Wikipedias having... documents... uses /row-template Comment
non-free content#Wikipedia local media files if non-free content exists and lists EDPs yes
local uploads policy/taking stock#Wikipedia local media files if violations of the WMF licensing policy exist. no strongly related to non-free content
List of Wikipedias having local media files local media files unused files, number of admins yes complete
List of Wikipedias having zero local media files zero local media files date of going zero, upload config yes uncomplete

How about moving local uploads policy/taking stock#Wikipedia to Non-free content/taking stock? That could increase the visibility of the efforts to end LP violations and reduce the work load. CommonSupporter (talk) 16:12, 13 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
