Why not NWE[edit]

As a reply to Special:Diff/1624497: Because it's a separate task that's not done yet, see phab:T154598. If you try it, it works in VE, but not in NWE – the same option is there, but it won't find the templates. (Ping IKhitron, who asked.) /Johan (WMF) (talk) 16:57, 20 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

For translators[edit]

If there are any Tech News translators who are not on translators-l but are reading this: There's a new way to handle dates in the newsletter. The point is to make it easier for you, because you only need to translate it once and then it will be a 100% match in the translation memory in the future, so you won't have to manually change the days and months every week.

There are some explanations in a couple of emails:

If you don't know what to do, or feel confused – please just write here or ping me and I'll help. The point is to make it easier for you, not more difficult. /Johan (WMF) (talk) 17:17, 20 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Good. Wargo (talk) 17:18, 20 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, done. IKhitron (talk) 17:45, 20 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Next issue[edit]

Johan, you moved a topic to the next issue, but there is a problem: You're inviting users to do something until Jan 31st when publishing it at Jan 30th. I believe it still should be in the current issue. IKhitron (talk) 12:36, 21 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I know, it's suboptimal either way. But a) it's aimed at a more-active-than-average subgroup of Wikimedians, b) wikitech-l is probably more important for reaching out to the target audience, so it's not dependent on Tech News, even though Tech News helps, and c) most translations are done, so I think there's a point in respecting the fact that the translators have been told it's safe to translate. /Johan (WMF) (talk) 03:43, 22 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
