Talk:Tech/News/2017/44

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

User:SSastry (WMF), do you like the Tidy item there? I thought the stats update deserved some visibility, and Johan wrote it. Elitre (WMF) (talk) 16:53, 26 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Basically, it's the same item we've had running before plus an update about the stats, so unless there's some sort of mistake I'd prefer we didn't keep tweaking the text – makes it more difficult to reuse old translations. (: /Johan (WMF) (talk) 16:55, 26 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yup, I wasn't thinking about tweaking, but more of "is this the time and place to encourage communities to volunteer for early switch to Remex" (a few of those are in a good position for that, but they'll get more "formal" invitations :) Elitre (WMF) (talk) 17:03, 26 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
"There is now an updated report of how common this problem is on different wikis." should change since it is more about changes, not an actual count on different wikis ... so, if a wiki had no activity, it won't show up in that report. Maybe instead of mentioning this, should we mention a few wikis that have already switched? mediawiki, nowiki, fawiki are wikis that have already switched (there is also wikitech, testwiki, eswikiversity but probably not as noteworthy). Hrm. Alright. Thanks for the correction! (: That they have switched is – if I understand you correctly – something they're either aware of or is easier to tell them specifically than to include it in a Wikimedia-global newsletter, and slightly less relevant for editors of other wikis. Maybe it's best to simply remove the item? /Johan (WMF) (talk) 17:09, 26 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Aha .. no, I was wondering if mentioning that would as encouragement to other wikis. But, from what you say, it is not relevant. SSastry (WMF) (talk) 22:38, 26 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
